:whew: that sounds super scary. Was there any damage to your car? The GT350 of a YouTube guy was on fire when that happened.
That is horrible. I have to say I have always done my own maintenance until this week's oil change. After reading your reply Ill probably go back to doing it myself. When I bought the car I knew that buying three changes was cheaper than buying one later and I wanted them to do the first one just in case something let go early.

They said no damage. It’s still at the dealer as they are trying to clean up all the oil that got everywhere. I was worried about a fire too. Thankfully it was early in the first session with it being my first time on this track layout so nothing was too hot!

2017 GT350 now gone to a great home.
A first gen Ford GT blew an oil line going into turn 1 at Road America directly in front of me. Beyond sliding everywhere under heavy braking my car was a mess from atomized oil. I feel your misery.

Newbie here. (894 miles on my 2020 Premium) What is the best oil to be used and quantity? I assume Motorcraft FL 500S for the oil filter.

Mobil1 10 quarts 5w-30 for summer or 5w50 if you push your car hard!

The Mercury Quick-lane in the Burgh did my GT with 10 quarts of semi-syn for $50 with a coupon that covered 6 quarts. They comped the extra 4 quarts, must have been in a good mood.
So the extra money for the GT 350 is for full synthetic and a special filter?

GT350 here. I'm in it for $82.41 for 10 quarts of Motorcraft 5w50 and a Motorcraft filter. Add a Saturday morning and some elbow grease to the $82 bucks - whatever that's worth to you.

For those of you guys who have the dealer change your oil, make sure they put the filter access panel back in place. If yours is missing, your only two options are to purchase the entire radiator shield for $300-400 or get a 3D printed OEM replica custom made. I went out and had a bunch made for a couple guys here on the forum, which you can also get for $65 bucks here:

So cool of you to do that.
Problem is most will never know it’s missing unless they do some of their own maintenance.

Curious to see how much you guys are paying for an oil change at a dealership. I'm located in the San Francisco Bay Area and I took my car in for an oil change recently at Walnut Creek Ford as they have a good reputation for servicing GT350's. They charged me $227 for an oil change.
Novato Ford, Northern California $246 for oil change.

The Motorcraft oil is thought to be pretty good by many.

Not a GT500, but they charged me $110 for a Full synthetic on my 2016 RS3 GT, and took my wife's Edge 2.7" AWD Sport in and they only charged me $50 for hers...
It seems a tad steep, even for a full synthetic oil change... 10 quarts of Mobil 1 at WalMart locally is about $50.
