I made this spreadsheet for myself when I was tire shopping... I've posted it before, but maybe it will help you choose tire sizes. And yes, I am aware this is a little extreme, its part of being in IT, way too into data collection!
+1 on the IT thing, I collect way too much data lol

I'd do a 275/40 before I did 275/35. The stock size for the EBPP-HPP is 265/40 and several optional wheels (Black Accent comes to mind) use 255/40, along with that being the standard front for PP1.
I haven't ruled out 295/35 yet for my next set.
275/40 will not clear the front struts on the OEM PP wheels or at least this was my understanding which is why I did 275/35 for the track and it worked out great though I will be switching to 19x10 Apex wheels at some point for 285/30 for the track as the semi slicks that I'm using don't have 285/35.

Why on earth would anyone want to use the OEM PP wheels. They are so heavy. My SVE wheel and tire combo saved over 40 lbs of rotational mass, made the car feel so much lighter on its feet.

Because in Europe is really hard to get SVE wheels for example.

I've never heard of a clearance issue (not that i've heard it all) and i can't imagine a 35 series would make a difference since it is usually the width that causes problems. I'm also not sure a 275 even fits on a 9" PP front wheel, it certainly wouldn't be the best choice and the shorter sidewall of a 35 series would probably compound the problem. The one thing I am sure of is that the PP wheels are insanely heavy and they have no place in a wheel/tire package designed with handling in mind.

they sure fit but I do agree that it's not ideal however for a short term solution was ok and worked perfectly fine at my last 2 track event shaking good seconds off my times. I will be getting a dedicated Apex wheels though in 19x10. But as far as PP wheels are concerned ether 275/35 square or 275/35F with 285/35R could be used for more performance fitment on the stock PP wheels. Also there are some people that like the look and FordPerformanceRacingSchool run the OEM PP wheels with 285/35 tires square but I guess they use the rears with spacer upfront.

With a 9.5" rear wheel used on the fronts I wouldn't go beyond a 275 tire. A 9.5" wheels doesn't fully support a 285 wheel, a 10" would be perfect for both 275 and 285.

I agree but the FPRS Mustangs all use 285 on the stock PP wheels:

https://www.fordperformanceracingschool.com/1-day-school/
  • 285/35/19 BFGoodrich gForce Comp 2 tires
As you can see from the photos the cars are on PP wheels.

Yea I know but the sidewall isn't fully supported. Also they don't make a 275/35/19 with that tire. I think that has a lot to do with it. BF Goodrich offers those tires to Ford, 9.5 is the minimum width for that tire. Also, the BFG tire is not that good of a tire compared to modern offerings from Continental or Michelin.

Here is the Tirerack test and it wasn't even against Michelin or Contis,

I know it was just an example of an 285/35 run upfront on the OEM PP 9.5 wheel.

The OEM fronts are 9". I'm assuming they use 4 rear wheels because 275 on the 8.5" is a bit too much.
