Did my first oil change on this car today at 2600 miles and took some time to observe the stock headers and the cat/GPF on the facelift Mustang GT.

The headers were incredibly disappointing in their design. A huge choke in the tubing (I think our RHD cars have headers about 10mm in diameter thinner than the USA cars), but also the dramatic bends to clear the steering column seemed largely unnecessary. There was maybe 3 inches of clearance and you definitely don't need that much. I'm surprised these cars are only 15hp down from the US ones given the choked up headers.

Also had a look at the cats/GPF and they look like they get really freaking hot. I can't see these lasting more than 30,000 miles, but they could break down sooner and cause a blockage which would be bad for the cylinders on the side that fails.

This is a 2019 GT with 2600 miles.

Always wondered if there was an aftermarket set of short headers available

I agree, kink in the manifold is overkill. Should've just fitted a heatshield.

Not worried about the cats though. Mine's on 43K and there are loads more on far higher than that. Haven't heard any stories of mass cat failures...

Fair enough. I was thinking the heat discoloration is because of the extra blockage inside the cats with the embedded GPF filters inside, so the new cats with GPF filters flow less than the 2018 and earlier cars that only had cats.
