Growing up, the misguided rebel that I was, thought of cops as fascist pigs. But even then, whenever I did have an encounter with LE...I'll spare you the details...I stood still, shut up, and complied with basic requests. Now I'm seeing people throw explosives at cops! Unbelievable. Is this sort of a wave of people who just don't GAF anymore?
I have to agree with this. like the cops or not just do as they say and stuff will be cool. I know there are asshat cops out their but I have never had a problem. Now my buddy who is white is in trouble all the time because he runs his mouth to them and fights with them. You see these videos of police brutality for years and its always the same. The videos are editied down to just where the cop is losing his cool. Then a few weeks later the real full video comes out where the guy was running from them. cursing them, fighting them swinging on them or acting like he had a gun.

I sorry Im not really on either side but I do know that no matter how big a dick the cop is they dont just run you down and yank you out a car and pull 4 guns on you for no reason. All the youtube videos of people being jerks to cops just doing their jobs and so on...

There are bad cops no doubt and they need to be made to follow the law same as anyone. But no every cop doing their job or protecting themselves by having their gun draw is a bad cop or showing brutality. If I was a cop and was facing a person who was eratic and resisting and maybe even on drugs you bet I would have my hand on my weapon no matter what color they were.

30 years of liberals educating/indoctrinating children is what has happened to America. As America goes farther and farther left, expect that the rich will get a lot richer, unemployment will be a lot worse, criminals will be set free, people who think the wrong things will be thrown into jail... the list goes on.

Yes, it seems to have gotten worse over the past 10-15 years, but only relatively so. I feel we are all more aware of it now since everyone carries a cell phone that can record and broadcast live pictures and video around the world.

And despite the cries of persistent racism, I work at a very integrated place (top to bottom, with a Romanian immigrant at the top of the food chain living the American dream) and as long as you act cool and do your job, nobody will F with you. One example for sure, but a good example of how decency and fairness still exist. And let's not forget that we not too long ago elected a president who at one time would have been called a mulatto and ostracized by whites and blacks alike.

The bigger issue I think is poverty and overwhelming financial stress being placed upon greater numbers of people. And the rich are getting richer on the backs of the poor: Eg: Consider the minimum wage or low income non-skilled worker who has to finance a used car (that has been paid for many times over) at 25% interest; the PayDay loan sharks; Credit Card companies that resort to extortionate interest rates on the people who can least afford them, etc., etc., Fear, stress and worry is their lot. And I fear we may be seeing their breaking point. But this unprecedented redistribution of wealth to oligarchs will breed more of this discontent, and we risk losing democracy for good.

And then the politicians do what they can to deny them the ability to participate in the democratic process (what politician doesn't love a good gerrymander?)

Things have changed - my parents immigrated from Europe after the war for a better life - and more so a better life for their children. And it worked: 3 kids: 1 RN, 1 PhD, and 1 MD.

As for LEOs, now I respect and appreciate what they do and interact with them professionally on occasion. But sadly, many of them cannot afford to live in the cities they work in.
That is a laudable set of accomplishments and speaks well of our nation. However, it also points out an issue that begs attention. A Romanian immigrant can come to America and earn success within a generation, appropriately so. However, the American lineage of Mr. Floyd and the others being discussed date back 200-400 years at a minimum. It's not about politicians; it's about the people of the United States of America.

That's a good point. Most things are actually pretty good.

Really the worst thing going on right now is Covid and that should be over soon. Unless the world politicians can't let go of their brief taste of martial law.

We do have issues with law enforcement not enforcing laws and some people taking advantage of that, but the economy was really great before they decided to shut businesses down.

I just can't wrap my head around how it became acceptable in far leftist ideology to actively HATE America. Like, for real? Really? Have you never been anywhere else? Fuck off with that bullshit, you spoiled, entitled twats.

Please explain what you mean by "far leftist ideology" and exactly how they have shown you they hate America. Also please explain why you think folks on the far left are spoiled, entitled twats.

You come on here with some pretty strong and hateful comments yourself. Now back them up with facts, not extreme right wing BS.

No, it's about those who do things to help themselves and society in the process, and those who don't do either.

White, black, brown, yellow, red, it doesn't really matter. At some point, you have to recognize that if you don't take out the trash, you live in a trash heap.

Until we wake up as a society, and start taking out the trash, the heap is only going to get bigger.

So I see lots of blame of politics and economic station. I have to disagree, while these things do affect things to a degree. Its as if people are saying well if everyone had money and politics weren't involved we wouldn't have these issues. Eh, I beg to different. People just like to blame others for their issues. Bottom line is people have become asshats, entitled and expect everyone to give them everything.
People do need to be able to make a living wage. But what exactly is that? $15, $20, $25 an hour minimum wage? And with what? A high school diploma or not even that? You risk watering down people's wages that worked hard to get a college degree, medical degree, trade school, etc.

Then economics 101 kicks in because raising min wages cranks up the cost to run business, which gets passed on to the consumer. So much for that wage increase. Yes top executives and athletes make exorbitant amounts of money. To f'ing bad... deal with it.

There are a LOT of able bodied people that expect something for nothing. Or get pissed off because they don't make the effort to get "ahead in life", and blame the success of others for their failures. I'm not saying EVERYONE has an opportunity, but MOST do and fail to capitalize on it. The sooner you let go of letting people with silver spoons piss you off, the better off and happier you will be in life. Not everyone can be rich, powerful, and "beautiful" like skinny ass runway models.

We're also such a materialized society with a lot of people trying to keep up with the Jones's. So yeah.. you are correct that a lot of people are terrible with managing their money. I myself, admittedly, have fallen into that trap before.

TLDR - Get your ass to work, school, or both, and take care of yourself. Be a productive part of society, not a disruptive, destructive, whiny ass fool.

I can remember when, not all that long ago, America was a dream a place you wanted to come to build a life, A place if you were born here was free and polite and if you traveled were respected because for being an American.

But over the last 10/15 years what the hell has happened? WE have basically lost all respect in the world, we are a joke, we are now the headlines around the world for crime, BS, racism, disrespect and basically we look like the bottom of the barrel where no one would go.

Younger generation has zero respect at all. Thinks its funny to insult people argue and be total jerks. All the boomer, karen mellienia BS is nothing but insulting to everyone.

People with their cell phones doing nothing but trying to start problems so they can film it and get on the news or you tube.

Mostly it is respect and the lack thereof. Neighbors who aggravate neighbors and are all so what screw them. People rude in public, people drive like jackasses and cause accidents, total disrespect for the president's office. Now mind you I said the office not the man. IM not a fan of his either but there use to be a time people still respected the office regaurless of how you felt about the man. now that's gone and you have reporters just trying to start shit people making jokes and just being totally disrespectful.

You can't call a woman a woman or you are sexist, if you don't call someone by their "identity" then you are a biases piece of crap. but most times how do you know what it is they want to be called? Hell I don't know. If you are white you are automatically a racist, if you are black you are automatically a criminal, if you are hispanic you are automatically a illegal....

Everyone wants to be special. no more man woman any more. Now there is cis man cis woman, transeual, bisexual, gay, lesbian, pansexual, neutral, binary, non binary and so on there are now 46 classifications for sexuallity! I mean seriously.

Headlined being made sensational for no reason. With over the top adjectives.. Fire rips through office... Car plows through crowd and Sales on cars are plunging at record paces..... you read and find out it was a trash can on fire, the car jumped a curb and hit a jogger and the car sales is about how they are down 2% at one dealer. Its just over the top and everyone is making things seems worse then they are.

I can go lay in a tanning bed at one place and then go next door and have to put on a hazmat suit to get a hamburger...

Everyone is scared of everything people are unfriendly as hell. I asked a guy the other day if the store was open as I got out of my car in the parking lot and i swear he acted like i was gonna murder him. This is actually more common, hell cant even ask a passerby a question any more.

These things were like this before trump so dont make this a political post its the people not the government. And people were like this before covid or any of the current things going on this week. So lets not blame those things.

Its people, people need to grow up and start acting right again. Im serious if i go out of the country and anyone asks Im from canada.

I use to be all pro America and yeah its a great place.. what the hell has happened. I want to feel this way again.

I think mandatory military service would be a fantastic idea. But it would have to be for everyone, no restrictions.

I'd say Barack Hussein Obama would be a good starting point. Do we need to talk about his bros like Bill Ayers or Jeremiah Wright for starters?

The flip side to your question is demonstrate with facts the far left ideology doesn’t exist. You can’t site extreme right wing bs without The existence of left wing bs. Plain and simple. I don’t care what side of the political equation some one is on, but there is no escaping many city’s in the US are under siege where the elected leaders have their heads so far up there ass it’ll take a sonic boom to get it out. You asked for facts on the far left ideology. The references and examples are literally plastered all over the media currently. What’s disgusting is people are genuinely questioning there sense of right and wrong and trying to justify the behavior we are are watching across the country currently. None of this has any thing to do with the criminal and the douchbag officer.

Please explain what you mean by "far leftist ideology" and exactly how they have shown you they hate America. Also please explain why you think folks on the far left are spoiled, entitled twats.

Universal military service would certainly help reduce racial tension. However, the challenge is that roughly 70% of service-aged Americans are not qualified to serve--overweight, prior illegal drug use, can't pass fitness tests or written exams, etc--and that's across all races. It's the sons and daughters of America (and their parents). With mandatory conscription, that 70% number would likely increase as people with the means find doctors who will falsely endorse disqualifying medical conditions, as was the case during Vietnam. Third, do we have the capacity and requirement to gainfully employ that large of a force or do we degrade military capability by turning the armed forces into a jobs program?

Perhaps another approach would be to identify several types of service that would meet the requirement--i.e., EMT, Fire Fighter; infrastructure maintenance; IT services of some sort, etc. In effect, some would be apprenticeships that lead to private sector employment after service. Of course, all would earn wages for their work. Only the severely handicapped would be exempted and points could be associated with the type of service based on risk. If it is based on anything else, "means and access" will come into play and create a biased system. Military service in direct combat would among the highest points, for example. After accumulating a certain number of points, full citizenship rights are granted. Now, all citizens are invested and have contributed to the nation, rather than taking it for granted.

Extreme? Maybe, but if we are serious about moving our nation forward, we need initiatives that don't suspend us in time or take us backward.
