Definitely not timeless. It's too flamboyant, too flicked and curved and all these things that are due to science and not necessarily expression.

Timeless designs in my opinion are examples that follow fundamental queues of their platform and function more than design trends of the time (which is why they're NOT timeless if they follow trends). E46 M3 and Skyline GTR-34 instantly pop into my head. FD chassis RX-7. Maybe late year C6 Vettes. Maybe late Fox Body. Call me crazy but maybe early 2000's Toyota Camry...

Then there's cars that shouldn't be timeless because they represent the hay day of their time. Ferrari F40 for instance. Or the Porsche 959. I put the S550 GT350 in this spot. The time when America showed the world how it's fricken done. And forget the Boss 302. It was a good effort but still not enough.

Personally more a fan of the 2012-13 Boss 302 front end especially the headlight area, slightly recessed, more square. Less "stylish", would kind of break up the bulletness (is that even a word) of the GT350. But...happy with my 350!
I would actually agree with this that the late S197 is more timeless than the S550.

The GT350 definitely broke ground and the GT500 took the baton and ran, really fast, with it. Having had both I can honestly say I like....both.

I'm just glad they haven't been killed off yet by those who believe they "know better."
I agree — that’s why I have both. The GT350 is a complete and fun package. But the GT500 with the DCT and 200+ more HP is sooo different that’s it hard to describe. On another blog, someone asked what the two sound like. My response was: “The GT350 screams and the GT500 roars.”

Also, think of the original 65-66 GT350 and then the ‘67 GT500. The ‘67 GT500 was better executed in all regards, building upon the GT350.

With respect to the sound of the GT350 versus the GT500 it is obvious that they sound completely different and as you mentioned very unique to each engine configuration but found it very interesting that Ford installed resonators on the 2020 GT500's whereas all of the 2020 GT350R's still continue on with this cool delete application.

My understanding is that one individual took off the resonators of his GT500 and actually had a small gain of between 6-7 HP let alone the improved sound of the vehicle.

Obviously the R models sound much more aggressive compared to a regular GT350 especially in Track Mode because of not having no resonators and a little surprised that at the very least that the 2 seat CFTP cars did not come with no resonators.

:)

I don't own either a GT350 or a '20 GT500, so I have no real skin in the game. My vote goes to the GT500. I just googled and stared at multiple pictures, flipped back and forth. I prefer the looks of the GT500 front end and rear end over the GT350. I like the '18+ tail lights and rear bumper cover more than the 15-17. I also think the tail pipes look better on the GT500. Don't get me wrong, the GT350 is one gorgeous looking car and stands out in a crowd, but the GT500 takes the cake between the two for me.

Absolutely agree on the timeless look of it. It is however a big car in person compared to sleeker sports car.
But from a distance those lower plastic aero trim accents are my favorite. Especially in brighter colors.

I switched from a C7 Z51 and that had great angles to it except for the skinny rear (GS and Z06 fix that).

Could not have stated that any better... it's an opinion, but I 100% agree.
The 500's are a beast and will walk all over our 350's, but I love my 350....!!!!!!!!!!!!!
not walking all over mine... 100+ more hp with the whipple and I still have 3 pedals, FPC, and 8250rpms = the ultimate mustang imo.
maybe when I get old and can’t push a clutch I’ll look for a gt500...

I agree with you. If you want more power a used GT350 can be upgraded and it will weigh less. Plus the GT350 front is much cleaner.

I’m not too sure about that. The GT500 is a beast and fast AF in a straight line but taking corners and maintaining speed I think the GT350 has the advantage there. I know my buddy can’t hang with me in the corners with his GT500, but put him in his 350R and he is right there.

I agree , the 350 is one of the best looking mustangs of all time IMO. I really liked my terminator convertible for its clean lines , but it didn’t have the hips or curves of the gt350.

One thing I didn't like about the gt500 front was the black middle section of the bumper. They nailed it with the 350 design. The fenders, hood, bumper, offset shelby badge, rear diffuser, etc. I also prefer the thick fender behind the headlights compared to that weird plastic "vent" on the 500.

Having had two B302’s (12 and 13 MY’s) and a 16 GT350R, I can definitely attest that there is something muscular about the B302. It’s the best looking, best overall Mustang with a great blend of performance and dependability, but I miss the GT350R, which is motivation for me to jump back into it, especially since they have Iconic Silver now.

I'm sure @50 Deep will master that GT500 in due time :)

GT500 is more aggressive but for me the GT350 has a cleaner look that just might stand the test of time better.
The 'looks' of the GT500 has more to do with function rather than form. So the function determines the end result looks.. more or less. Cheers.
