Yeah I read that I file might be needed to de bur it. It wasn’t a bur though it was the entire piece of the stamped steel in the way. There was no way I could get it out of there. I’ll see if I can find anything to get it out.If the part that won't go in the sub frame is the spacer, the bolt that you install to hold the chassis brace won't stay tight as there is nothing to keep that sub frame from crushing down when you start driving and putting stress on it.
You might want to revisit your installation instructions. The instructions that came with my Steeda front brace indicated
that sometime there may be metal slag in there that needs to be removed with a chisel or file.
Are you referring to the Steeda G Brace?... if so, it fits... you just have to advance it into the chassis appropriately. And, it’s important for the function/protection of the part.I installed my front chassis brace today. No way the provided hardware that’s supposed to go inside the subframe was going in so I didn’t put that part in. Hopefully it’s not a big deal.
Shiftech but basically the same one. I know you are supposed to advance it into the chassis but there was no way I was getting it in there. A piece of steel or some videos call it slag was in the pay and nothing I did wild move it.Are you referring to the Steeda G Brace?... if so, it fits... you just have to advance it into the chassis appropriately. I had a few bumps of slag I removed with a file. They slid rite in after that.Shiftech but basically the same one. Have you painted them while on the car? Or disassembled the whole thing?Painted the Brembos black with white lettering - just waiting on the wheels to be done at powdercoaters:
Had I had the skills I do today, I would not have spent 2K for the R calipers. Now that I can do my own brakes, he most likely did the followingHave you painted them while on the car? Or disassembled the whole thing?
Painted on the car - only removed the pad pins. I got a good set of small brushes and took my time. This paint is only temporary until I have the downtime to remove them for powdercoating.Have you painted them while on the car? Or disassembled the whole thing?
If you are going to track it seriously, check the max temperatures powder-coating likes. I think its low-mid 400s. Since many people need 600 degree brake fluid I suspect the powder-coating could get cooked in extreme circumstances.Painted on the car - only removed the pad pins. Good advice - I didn't think about that. I am going to do some Autocross if the events ever open back up but not sure about anything else right now.If you are going to track it seriously, check the max temperatures powder-coating likes.
