Recently I came across this 2018 Shelby GT350 and when I noticed the VIN on this vehicle I immediately knew that this was a Pilot Production GT350 based on the VIN series therefore made a call to the dealership in question who I happen to know very well.

My first question that I wanted answered was what was the chassis number after which time I was informed that the chassis number is "PP001" which obviously indicates that this was the first 2018 Pilot Production Shelby GT350 built as the FRAP for the 2018 MY.

My next step was to get a copy of the Oasis Report for this cool vehicle and suggest that this GT350 was built very early on for a Ford Exec in Dearborn with the Oasis Report confirming that this car was assembled on June 23rd, 2017 which is well before the start of the regular production 2018 cars and probably built before the 2017 MY GT350/R's were discontinued for that MY.

It looks like the "Bumper to Bumper" 3 year warranty is still in place with the warranty start date being August 7th, 2017 and of course also suggest that the "Powertrain" warranty will extend through August 7th, 2020 but someone interested needs to confirm all of that.

Based on my records the FRAP only produced 21 PP cars for 2018 with this vehicle having chassis # "PP001" therefore it does not get any better than that.

Of the 4,378 GT350/R's produced for the 2018 MY only 25 cars came in Orange Fury with White OTT stripes and personally really like this color combination.

For more details about this car you can contact Chip Welch at O.C. Welch Ford Lincoln with his direct phone number being 843-288-0212 and is listed on eBay item # 373057614601.

Good luck for those of you that like interesting and rare Pilot Production cars such as this one!

Looks good I don't know why in hell they put that dealership sticker on that black panel. That panel scratches very easily. Hopefully whom ever buys it can get that off without fine scratches.

Love the creamsicle color combo!
Funny. The dealer I got my GT350 from had a creamsicle sittIng for 2 years before it sold. Low volume dealer, haven’t seen another GT350 on the lost since that one sold..

Agree with all of your comments but after having taken many of those off with a heat gun or even a hair dryer I suggest that these dealership stickers should come off without an issue at least I would hope so.

:fingerscrossed:

The chassis numbers for the 2020 GT350/R's and the 2020 GT500 4 seat and 2 seat CFTP cars are assigned during the early stage of production with a chassis badge indicating in what numerical order that any particular vehicle was built despite whatever the VIN is for your car.

In your case the "L" indicates and 2020 MY build and "R" confirms that your car is an R model and the "108" indicates that it is the 108th R model built since production began sometime back in September of 2019.

Keep in mind that the 2020 MY will be the only MY whereby regular GT350's and R's will have a duplicate chassis series because of the launch of the HEP cars also being produced during the 2020 MY.

With that being the case there will be two chassis plates indicating "L0001" and also two chassis plates that will indicate "LR001" and so on with the distinction between the two chassis series being the unique colors of the Cobra on the left side of the badge and coming in the colors of Red, Blue or Black.

It is my understanding that a log has and is being kept at the FRAP for all of the chassis plates assigned to each vehicle over the years and of course also all are identified by VIN with the 2020 MY being somewhat confusing for some.

:)

ok thanks, i figured that 108 meant the 108th 2020 R but it seem like a high number for such an early build. ive seen some R's with chassis numbers in the 400's and i didnt think they made that many R's in one year.

Based on the production figures that I have access to the highest production number figure for any R model year since back in 2015 to present is the 2017 model year whereby the FRAP built 942 R's that year.

I still do not have the 2019 R model production numbers but the highest chassis number that I have come across for the 2019 MY is KR799 and do not expect the production numbers for that MY to exceed that number by too much and expect to have the final 2019 production numbers very soon.

I look forward to seeing the MY 2019 R numbers, I reached out to the FPG and asked if they had the final numbers yet but no reply to my email.

I expect that we may receive the 2019 GT350/R production numbers within the next couple of weeks and suggest that the FRAP produced just over 800 R models for the 2019 MY but just as you I am also looking forward to the final numbers very soon.

yeah, I would think so since I’m KR785 and saw KR799 on FB. Mine was an August build, delivered to the dealer Aug 31st. I found it on Labor Day weekend and saw it on Monday Sept 2nd, Labor Day. The internet sales rep responded to my inquiry on Labor Day and said he was bored and his in-laws and would meet me at the dealer. It was still dirty from just being unloaded from the delivery truck.

Love that creamsicle color combo! Thanks OP, for the lesson! As for that hard plastic decal, mine came off flawlessly with my wife's hairdryer, fishing line, goo-gone, microfiber, and patience.
