I think that they are wrong.

Used Ford Mustang Shelby GT350s are finally dropping into the $30,000-$40,000 range, folks. Of course, depreciation itself isn’t news. Pretty much every car depreciates after it leaves the dealer lot. This is more of a public service announcement for everybody who stared longingly at the car’s initial price with tears in their eyes, wanting for a Mustang that revved to 8,250 rpm.

Shit, most autoblog dudes can't afford a used Honda Accord.

2017 GT350 now gone to a great home.
I say we form a consortium, buy up every GT350 that is for sale or will go on sale and horde them for 10 years in a huge warehouse. Then we sell them one at a time at a huge mark up.

High 30's for 2016 cars, sure I'd believe it. 2016 Tech Pack cars especially. They're basically 4 years old now.
High $30's is not a specific number. They are almost four years old. It needs a good PPI on the car. A PPI is an complete inspection (pre-purchase inspection).

This would include all of the original paperwork with the MSRP sticker and Ford GT350 paperwork (with the Ford package). This may be the last of the FPC 5.2L Mustangs. Most of these cars are very low mileage.

Please say so if you need to sell a low mile one at $30K-$40K. with all the other stuff.

My 2019 is good with all the paperwork. It has 3000 miles on it. It is not FS. It is just very good:

Here’s a GT350 in FL on eBay right now for $40k...and it’s not moving... don’t know it’s history or anything other than “it’s $40k”:

Not saying how that GT350 is optioned, color combo, production year, accrued mileage or condition plays a role in the Autoblog story - but if you search, there are definitely deals out there...

According to the AB story you would think finding a GT350 for $30-40k is the norm - it’s not, BUT deals do exist. Just like I’m sure you can pick up a salvaged GT350 for $20k... is it the norm, no, but deals do exist.

Maybe one could find a GT350 or GT350R infected with the coronavirus and snag a really spectacular deal...

2016's are out there but with 17/18's being priced around 3-6k more, I'd rather scoop one from those years up instead.

My thought is if I'm gonna pay 45k plus for a track car, I'd rather it have all the bells and whistles.

Traded my 16 GT350 Tech pac for my 19 R in Sept 2019. Traded it in Atlanta, GA. Kept a eye on it because I want to send the original owners package to the new owner as soon as it was sold.

Car sold last week for approx 40K. The dealer had 40K on car, dont know what new buyer paid.

Those are 2016 tech pack cars... if you were in the market in 2016/2017 you would have known that dealers were doing under MSRP deals on these examples all day long while the disgruntled 2016 tech pack guys googled what their cars had AFTER they signed the dotted line and then tried to take Ford to court. :headbang::headbang:

Ford made a mistake in 2015 trying to price/option the cars more pragmatically and towards "buyers tastes" (like M4s or GT3RSs) rather than the Shelby continuations that they will always practically be ... they quickly rectified that making all the 'track' goodies standard the year after.

I was helping a friend look at 350s and he kept on bringing up 2016s despite a 2017+ like I was recommending because "I can't find a 2017 in my budget"... :) go figure...

I suspect you are right on this one. I specifically waited until the 2017 models when all the goodies became standard. From what I can recall, the early models without the track packages were overheating, which I can believe. I had a 2016 GT with a Performance Package, so no coolers at all, and easily got the rear end too hot. That's why I moved on to the GT350, which had coolers standard by then. I'm betting a lot of people bought tech cars and didn't know this tidbit, then traded them back in. That seems to make the most sense to me. Plus, wouldn't be surprised if a lot of people bought it thinking it was a drag car, only to find no bottom end when they drop the clutch.

I have seen several '16 Tech cars around me for in the 30's. One of my buddy's was considering getting a used 350 and he DIDN'T want a Tech Pack for obvious reasons being in motor sports. He did find a Track pack car in the high 30's but didn't like the color.
