Has anyone attempted to swap a 10-speed GT’s Coyote for a Voodoo?

This odd thought just popped into my head. Is this possible (I don’t see why it wouldn’t be)? Has it been attempted before? Is it as worthless for performance as I’d imagine it would be?

Most likely not cost effective.

To buy a brand new Voodoo is expensive and to even source a salvaged whole car is still expensive. Add in the time, the labor and the necessary tuning needed for the drivetrain...

First question in my mind would concern the rpm capability of the 10-speed. After that, shift mapping.

Totally worth pissing away all that money for the exotic sound!
(Joking... kinda )

What’s the 10-speed’s limit for revving? The redline on the gen3 Coyote is 7500 and the Voodoo is 8250, right?

I have a friend with an 18 A-10 and when he got his tune, they upped the rev limit to 8000. It's been a couple of years and no problems.

yeah there's A10 yotes turning 8200, not an issue. Mine spins to 8K. Biggest challenge is cost. little benefit other than sound really.

Decided to take a look even though I have no intention of actually doing this (more curious than anything): a GT350 Voodoo engine isn’t THAT bad price-wise, seems to go for $10-13k on average. A brand new one from Ford will run you $20k + shipping, though.

But isn’t the sound exactly why so many of us love about our Coyotes? The idea of hearing the sound of a Voodoo in my car is enthralling.

That's my question, or perhaps more accurately what's the A10 reliably rated to in terms of rpm? Under some conditions (most gears, actually; not just the overdriven gears), certain internal components have to turn faster than engine rpm. Up to at least 57% faster.

Norm, if you give me a Voodoo I promise not to go over 7500 rpm.

Your A10 is safe.

I can't even realistically afford a Voodoo for myself. Though it would certainly open some eyes to see one in an S197.

Got it. The Voodoo maxes power around 7850, correct (and tapers out when approaching it’s redline)? Theoretically, the A10 could just be tuned to stop/redline at 7850-8000 to “be safe”.

EDIT: BTW, this thread also has me curious how a Predator Engine in an A10 PP1 GT would do compared to the DCT of the GT500

Yeah, I do not think max RPM would be an issue. Engine mapping the Voodoo to a ten speed, now that would be interesting. I'd love to see somebody do this.

Yea, that’s where I’m SUPER curious as well! The manual of the GT350 holds the 0-60 and quarter-mile back, as the 2018+ GT with PP1 + Magneride and an A10 tends to beat the GT350 in a straight line (I’ve never seen a stock GT350 hit 11.8 on a quarter or break 3.9 to 60 - the lighter GT350R comes close, but that’s due to weight savings). So, I’m a bit curious as to what the more-powerful Voodoo could be capable of if properly tuned to the 10-speed.
