2018 GT 5.0 with 5k miles on the odometer and found this while changing oil.

Anyone can tell me what it is and why the engine still works fine?

I change oil every event and last time I did it I used a magnetic drain plug.
Now when draining the oil again I got theses metal pieces that I'm trying to discover from where they came.

looks like a spring-metal bracket I'm guessing either high up in the valve train or cam chain tensioner.

looks to be from winage tray or oil pump pick up bracket i would guess .I would say no matter what i would remove the oil pan or send in an inspection camera .what ever it is it was chewed up by the crank and rod mains for sure !!!

It is a piece used during assemble to keep the follower ( rocker) and lifter together, not needed after assemble. My son RBS550 was installing new cams and springs when he found some getting out of shape and was told not needed and he removed them. He is still shifting at 8K plus RPMS. The only problem for you is getting all the pieces out but from your pic it is close to being complete. I will try to find some pics from cam install.

I would you have 31 left and no more may brake but it`s good you changed your oil & filter. It would be a lot of work to remove them, but they are not needed . A piece they used to speed up assembly that they could do with out but would take longer to build, They need to to stop using them! Keep enjoying your Mustang.
