Thank you thank you. Oh man.
Oil pan porn.
Ohhhh teaser with the windage and pickup just at edge of image... can the other parts come out n play? Just a little?
Id prolly lose my composure if you put a set of calipers on that pickup tube at the pump inlet.
The pickup tube is 1" i.d.

I just ordered that GT500 oil Pan Kit yesterday but now I'm reconsidering. If I have to use the included pickup and pump... a pump without Billet gears. Terry any chance have you talked to Boundry, TSS or MMR about making OPGs for this gt500 pump?
I had ordered too but cancelled mine before it shipped after learning no upgrade gears available .
Not worth the risk.

Nice. Thanks. Wonder how to set up the oil restrictors if I run predator block with stock GT heads...
Going for poor mans road course S550 TT track rat.
With the GT 500 pump ?

I would think you would stick to the GT restrictors.

I think the only time you would swap the restrictor is with the GT 350 heads if you are using a GT pump . Then you have to use the GT restrictors .

From what I understand, the oil restrictors in the cylinder head must match the oil pump used.

I think that depends on the heads .

when I used a GT 350 pump with GT heads and GT restrictors I had no issues .

I have had problem running the GT350 heads and GT 350 restrictors ) with the GT pump.
The hole in the GT 350 restrictors is much smaller than in the GT restrictors so when use a lower pressure GT pump oil pressure is reduced drastically and causes me issues .

confused yet.... lol

I had a top end noise and when we checked the pressure at the heads it was low .

I used GT350 pump with GT heads (all OEM 2015) on my first motor. I ended up using GT stock oil restrictors even though using GT350 pump.
Keep in mind, I was road coursing a stock 2015 block w a Whipple backed down to 9 psi by second season while spinning to 8000rpm. Went thru 3 sets timing chains and guides..lol...
High rpm tears stuff up...

Beefcake said they have run low 9’s with car deletes on stock exhaust. Yes, there will be power gains, but how much d

So we both used GT 350 pump with GT restrictors in GT heads without issues .
It’s only an issue with the GT 350 heads ...if you use the smaller (hole ) GT 350 restrictors with a GT pump .
I suspect there won’t be an issue if you use a GT 350 pump and swap in GT restrictors (larger hole ) in the GT 350 heads .
Confusing I know .
Lol

I’m picking up my 2019 GT A10 from the dealership today. It was there for about 9 weeks while they replaced the engine (under warranty) because the oil pump failed. My only mod was exhaust.

Absolute myth. What was it really there for? Floor mats?

I did them on my setup because labor was free (me) and I like a project. Sometimes those projects end up having a worse outcome than if I would have left it alone. But not the gears so far. Also blower and mt and bouncing on the limiter more than I anticipated. Also the marketing/ propaganda.

Absolute myth?

I brought my car to the shop to install a supercharger. While investigating the car, the mechanic noticed clicking noises from the engine. One thing led to another and when the mechanic changed the oil, he found copious metal shavings in the oil. He recommended that I immediately take the car back to the dealer. The dealership did an investigation and determined that the engine should be replaced under warranty. I’ll see if I can take a picture of the work report/invoice and upload it here.

By the way, I bought the car used 6 months before bringing it to the shop. I wonder if the previous owner knew about the metal shavings when he sold it. I also wonder if he repeatedly bounced the RPMs off the limiter before he sold it. Sure, I hit the limiter once or twice but never noticed anything unusual.

@Drpaul09 I must say that your Ford tech was extremely thorough in his investigation and documentation. I hope his customers and leadership recognize that.

Secondly, he notes severe wear in the oil pump and a slight crack in the housing. This isn’t the failure mode that the aftermarket billet OPG are intended to prevent.

@engineermike, I, too, was surprised that the problem wasn’t the oil pump gears. Perhaps this wasn’t quite the right spot for my post.

Here’s an interesting fact, the Ford mechanic was a young woman. I mention it only because I assume that women mechanics are rare.

Also, I appreciate the shop mechanic for identifying the problem before he installed the supercharger, which would have voided my warranty.

FYI, there are two mechanics in this story: the first (at the “shop”) was male, the second (at the dealership) was female. Each did a great job.
