The 2020 ecoboost in UK will be the high performance package I’m assuming. Has anyone ordered one yet in UK? Wanted to know the waiting times and any reviews in the UK market.

Thanks for the reply but because of my age (21) it’s just better for me to go for the ecoboost while enjoying the cabin of a mustang

I would go with an old one if i were in your shoes. You could be talking as much as 15k difference vs the 2020 hipo version (if that even gets to the UK?), sure there’s all the extra tech, better performance but not worth the extra imo.

i’m sure you could get yourself a well looked after 2015-2017 ecoboost for around the £25k mark, you’ll still get the full mustang experience in the ecoboost, such an epic engine - i had one for 18 months.

just don’t say we didn’t warn you when in 2 years time, you’re saying “ahh I shoulda got the GT”

welcome to the forum

It is not the high performance package sold out of the box. Horsepower for the Ecoboost actually dropped from 313hp pre-2018 to 286hp for 2019 and later Ecoboost models in the UK.

Ford Performance or Mountune parts can help make up that difference quite easily but the difference in power is due to the fitment of the GPF and need to recalibrate the map for emissions purposes.

I understand your point about GT but my insurance for GT is 5k more expensive than for ecoboost. The deals on GT are better anyways so if it wasn’t for my insurance I would go with GT maybe in 2 years it’ll be cheaper

Go for it I loved my Ecoboost, it was like 9 months of training before I got the full fat 5.0 version. Plenty fast is the 2.3 though and much better than the GT in the corners due to lighter front end. And the 2020 ecoboosts are as mentioned less than 300bhp now but are slightly higher torque than the 2017 models. Buy a 2017 model and save yourself a lot of money.

Nice! But im pretty sure the 2020 has more horsepower because it already comes with the high performance pack

the Hi-Perf variant still hasn't been dyno'd, but for info, the 18+ (Mod refresh) are pushing 270 on dyno, the same as a pre refresh, however, the 18 is listed around 280 whereas the 15-17 is listed at 310 (but doesn't make it).

Take it from me who's been in your shoes, get the older variant, save the money, and mod the shit out of it :D

There's the following btw.

15-17 - 310 (listed), 270 (Actual)
18-20 - c280 (listed), 270 (actual)
20 w/ Hi Performance (EXTRA) - c350 (lited) - Actual TBC.

The 20 does not automatically come with the high performance pack, all UK cars come with a 'performance pack' as the US models have, which means the 4 pot brakes, interior upgrades etc etc, but it DOES NOT come with the Hi-Perf

Or use the money you save not modding the “shit” out of an Ecoboost and get the GT
