This was from the 2020 issue of MMFF. It is Grabber Green. It does mention those new parts from the GT500.

Eh. "substantial separation" between the 350 and 350r and "we didn't build up to speeds that challenged their powress" (re: brakes) are two comments that really tell me the review is worthless.

Unless they are talking about substantial separation in price point!

With demand slowing way down, and the GT500 now available I wonder if there will be a 2021 GT350350R?

They were on a short little track. I've tested on a short track which was built for go-carts. It's called the Talladega Raceway Park (or just Talladega go-cart track). It's good for testing and practice (also cheap to rent).

IMO, they were saying that the track didn't allow the speed required to test the brakes and high speed handling. That's how I read it.

Right, they have no basis for saying the R is substantially better. That's my point.

The GT350/GT350R is in its 6th rear. I guess the GT350R could be dropped (or both)? It depends on sales of the 2020? I'd say the Bullitt is gone (it could always come back, like before).

2021: My internet opinion is:
  1. EcoBoost HP
  2. PP2
  3. GT350
  4. GT500 (with GT500-KR, and a GT500 vert'?)

I have driven both non R and R on short tracks. "Substantially" may seem subjective to some drivers. I know this about the R vs non R pre-2019. You can brake later, body roll is reduced, turn in is better, acceleration is better out of a turn and really better all around too, steering inputs are better, sounds better, looks better... Anyway I just really wanted to defend the extra $7500 I spent. I'd spend it again over and over. If I'm being honest tho, I dunno about spending that $12,500 for a 2020 R tho. They may have reached a point where the upside to the 2020 R isn't there $$$ wise. Feels like more of a collectors bragging piece.

You drove both versions with cup2 tires? Like 2019 vs 2019? or 2020 vs 2020? Very curious how same brakes and same tires could result in braking later/better in the R... What were your laptimes when you compared both cars?

No. I said I didn't drive the 19 or 20's in my response. Basically I think that the pre-19 non R vs pre-19 R, there's a big noticeable difference to me and $$$ wise the $7500 is worth it imo. I'm not sure the $12500 is for the 20 R. I had my 18 R for 6 months before driving the pre-19 non-R I think it was a 17 350. I could definitely feel the difference.

Can you send me links to the testing? It's hard for me to imagine more than a couple 10ths faster between the two for the 19+ versions.
I cant find it now and I was looking at a head to head yesterday. Billy could possibly chime in. I know the 19 350 cut the deficit to the R in half. I believe it was VIR from 4 seconds to 2

sorry, didn't see the pre 19 part, but yeah the current article is comparing cars that i've yet to see are substantially different in performance. there's for sure value to the R spec car with what you get extra though.

2 seconds is a pretty big gap.
