Shelby sells most of these parts individually and some are Ford Performance parts so you could build your own for way cheaper. But I hope to get the real deal some day! :please:

Yeah but not the wide body kit :( that's the only part in the list that is hard to find.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but my understanding is that this simply has a blown stock block Coyote. If so, that is really lame.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but my understanding is that this simply has a blown stock block Coyote. If so, that is really lame.
You are not wrong this is stock 5.0 + 3.0 Whipple on top with Phase 2 kit. good for around 800 HP.

These threads always turn into a debacle. It's funny how people seem to forget that the original '65-'70 Shelbys were....Mustangs....modified....by....Shelby American.

You know, much like today. If you wanted to be a stickler, the Shelby American cars are truer to the original concept. Not as highly engineered as a factory entity, but....
‘Twas I much different world back then. A Shelby modified vehicle wasn’t much different in terms of quality than a Ford stock Boss.

Shelby itself, for its time, was at the forefront of performance engineering. Now, they are just a tuner shop that doesn’t really make anything groundbreaking on its own.

these days, the best performance cars are factory vehicles, with shared branding and maybe an agreement to let the co-brand turn a couple wrenches according to the factory blueprint.

now, Shelby American is basically a tuner company with an amazing legacy. Ford does it right by engineering and building the car and paying for the name. Some hopped up versions may go as far as letting Shelby install Fords parts according to Fords specs in order to add a little more “Shelby” mustard to it. But it’s still a Ford through and through. Just replaced a blue jacket on the assembly line with a white one basically.

it’s great that Shelby does this - creating Super Snakes, etc. but it’s shot itself in the foot with not only pricing, but by lacking vision. They aren’t breaking any ground anywhere. Not innovating. And even the Shelby American styling is stuck too far in the past.

Even the branding is kind of tacky and out of touch. For example, “dragon snake.” And the atrocious logo.

they could really make some killer bodywork, invest in high tech chassis tuning and suspension engineering as well. But they don’t. No special Shelby engine components that really matter...

and the interior and exterior designers could use a break. Give them a nice two month, paid vacation to recharge and send them in a modern creative retreat. Doesn’t even have to do with cars. Just fresh thinking. Then turn them loose, recharged, inspired, and ready to change things up.

Saleen cars pretty much got away with things based on nice design. Slap a supercharger o it, upgrade the shocks, and boom, instant hot, coveted car. Shelby would wipe the floor with all these guys if they simply updated their designs. But if they then went and invested in acrual engineering innovation, it would be a one/two KO punch to the auto industry.

imagine a Shelby All-American powered by a supercharged 5.2, with electric assist for over 1,000 hp, 7 or 8 speed DCT, weight reduction all around, race car suspension that changes from drag to track modes at the touch of a screen or flip of a switch, and looks like a sleek, modern factory car all the way to the wheels, interior designed with custom panels, soft touch materials throughout, modern patterns, with perhaps a manufacturing agreement with a tire company featuring custom compound, with the Shelby name emblazoned on the tires. All wheel drive rounds out the traction, and it’s all calibrated by Shelbys team of hires of the best tuning and calibration specialists on the planet. Then tuned over multiple track trips in varying weather with input from pro drivers and magazine guys to get it exactly where it needs to be as best of breed. Then market and let it sell itself.

if they did half of that, it would be great. Right now, we are getting cars that other tuners are building at less cost, but look like they are still designed by the same people who did the 60’s cars.

I’m rooting for Shelby. But I’m also calling them out when they are capable of sooo much more. Just takes a little vision and risk taking.

Still building some classics, the Series 1 was a good shot at a production car, just never took off. To actually design and build a car is almost an impossibility with all the .gov regs. The company seems to be busy and sell what they make, so must be doing something right. With Carrol gone the creative mindset is probably gone. If you look at Saleen, Roush, Steeda etc they are all just trying to improve an already good product and try to hit the niche market from those that want more power. The replica car market seems to be running strong and lots of Shelby wanna bes are being built. Copying is the sincerest form of flattery. If you want a "real" Shelby all it takes is a thick checkbook.

100K+ even still without the engine and transmission. if I was really rich, I would save money taking a superperformance replica cause you can get LHD, Air conditioning, and even throw in an A10 or DCT and more customization.
But it ain't a Shelby, I know, some guys are ok with that. Some guys want a Shelby. Only a person that want a Shelby know what I mean.
Besides, if I had the jingle, this would be mine.

Wish they would just go back to calling the Ford version the Mustang Cobra and just drop the Shelby name from their production. Bring back the Cobra and Cobra R.
