Does anyone know how the s550 detects the key? Is there something by the ignition like a NFC unit?

I'm in middle of gutting 2019 GT to build my racecar. It looks like you need these 2 modules one on rear deck and the one attached under the cupholder for the key to be recognized so you can start. I'll update if I find other ridiculous stuff Ford is doing.

I mean, how much could they possibly weigh? Maybe bypass, and convert to a physical key?
yeah...I will have to figure it out and maybe delete to increase reliability. Less is more in racecars. While these two modules are small all the little things add up. I'm amazed just the bolts holding the interior in a box weigh about 8lbs so far! There is a reason these cars are 3800lbs.

Anyway there are plenty of threads here on FOBs not recognized. If future owners have a real fault they can also look at these two modules. I'm not done gutting yet there could be others in the dash.
