The hood is made of aluminum and a composite material.
That's interesting. What portion of the hood are you saying is aluminum? I've seen the skin and the framework before they were bonded together and both were composite.

We might be thinking the aluminum surrounds the opening for the vent where the strut would also be connected.

Those are small inserts. I'll dig something up when I can to clarify.

Looking good, tasteful! Really pops on the silver car too.

For 100k car I wish those CF items were all available as a package. Maybe except for the hood. I think they all look great but I stilk struggle modifying this vehicle. Maybe it will just take me some time.

Evan: As much as I would like to have some or all of that CF stuff, I'm with you on the hesitation to change things. I think if I do anything down the road, it might be the trunk lid piece. And FWIW, I actually thought having ALL the parts on the car was a bit TOO much CF.

I’m with you two, I don’t think I’m touching these this time. Don’t get me wrong, CF is beautiful and I did the entire bottom edge of my last car along with everything offered under the hood, then it bled I to the interior. To me, CF is an addiction. You get one piece, then and other, then an other and be fore you know it, you blew your kids college fund, got a second mortgage, and now trying to sell a kidney to get your next fix.

That, and I just can’t wrap my head around changing this car too much, or at all for that matter. I will do some personal touches, like my BeithPerformance steering wheel, I just can’t fathom altering this car.

For now....... I think ......... CRAP

Blasphemy! They only thing stopping me is the gobs and gobs of $$ it would take to do it all. The most practical piece in the lot is the hood.

Your situation is different than most, Tom. Weight is the Prime Directive and I get that as well as the hood being the only significant weight savings. And, it LOOKS spectacular but you're also correct, it would require an armored truck to tote all the moolah required. :-)

SO i wonder if the splitter wickers and gurney flap will be <$1500.....seems like a better choice to go with AC stuff....if you like CF.....and i particularly hate black non-painted plastic parts

AC, you can see the three inserts are here that are found on the underside panel. Two for the hinges and a small one for the strut.

I stopped by Anderson Composites SEMA booth today to see the GT500 and all the CF pieces CA will offer for the car. All of them are first rate! And Alex Barrera was most helpful in providing information about their offerings. Many thanks Alex. I look forward to being able to purchase some of them for my GT500 after it is built and received.
