Yup such a disappointment. I mean why would i pay 67 grand for a 1lt z51 and get a slow ass car 0-60 in 2.8s quarter mile in 11.1 and above 1g lateral? There are faster cars out there for less money like GT350R. It is totally a disappointment. I was expecting 0-60 mph less than 2 seconds quarter mile in the 10’s and a roadcoarse warrior hang with a ZR1 c7 vette. I ll pass.

Agree 100% except for GT350R being fast.

The c8 is cheap if you go bare bones. And it’s for a reason.

no one ever hypes 0-60 above all else these days. Especially GM since they have been track focused. But guess which car they hyped mainly the 0-60? LOL. of course if you sit an engine over the drive tires, traction is helped immensely. But after that, the car has to actually work.

It’s the inaugural launch of their mid engine platform, so it’s not going to be all it could be. If this was priced at 80k+ to start, it would Be met with much more scrutiny. The price is why people may still look past it being a backward step in everything except stoplight to stoplight. 1320 is good. Not great. 0-60 is great. Breaking is good. Handling seems to be good. The car is overall a backward step from the previous gen.

The c8 isn’t a raging success. It also isn’t a failure. It’s a good car that needs to be sold at the right price. you have to start somewhere. In three years, they’ll sort it out. And charge way more.

Ford doesn’t seem worried at all. Smart of them to release info after the loud c8 hype and subsequent letdown. The new vette is almost as gd as the old. But it was hyped as so much better. Let’s see if a four seat pony car lumps up a two seat sports car.

what the hell is this dyno test 560 rwhp on a mustang dyno?? That makes the 0-60 more believable but this HP is insane and cant be right , can it?
That shop needs to get their dyno recalibrated. GM is not going to certify the engine and only claim 495 hp when the car is putting down 560 whp. I mean this is even way beyond what BMW advertise their hp for. Can you imagine the ZO6 version of this car putting down 800 whp?

Indeed. This is the same happy dyno they claimed the 2019 GT350 is makeing 55hp more than the 2018.

Apparently, they changed the dyno cell to be in a wind tunnel and all of their new results are reading crazy high. Go figure.

The c8 handles worse than the base c7. It’s def not going to handle better than a GT500
It might not have put up better numbers in the stat box as far as handling numbers, but R&T lapped a C7 Z51 and a C8 Z51 and teh C8 was almost a second faster on the track

There is a lot of contention on this subject. A lot of the corvette folks are extremely disappointing by the 1 second, as many attribute it to mostly better tires.

GM has been know in the past to give the media some “Special” cars.

I wonder if they just didn’t think anyone would drop the loaner on a dyno. Not normal for pre production magazine testing.

Maybe more a GM got caught cheating type situation.
Look at my previous post. It's a known "hot" dyno.
