I was really kidding around with you on the liberal thing.

I got out of school when President Reagan lowered the tax rate. It may have been the greatest time in our economy The stock market exploded forward. .

Some folks may have been excluded. I say they didn't work as hard as I did.. I am a victim of of hard work and sacrifice.

I also carry at least one gun when riding around in my GT350. I have a license but Georgia is a Castle Law State (we got it from the Brits). It means that I can use deadly force to protect my property (home and car) as well as my family and business.

My gun licence means I can carry weapons (one on the waist and one in an ankle holster) away from my home and business Some States do not allow Castle Law. You need to know this stuff.

My main deal is a Colt 1911.45 ACP:

My ankle holster is a S&W MP in 9mm:

Good Morning. All good here and nice looking pieces I spent several years of my career in/out of Fort Benning. Georgia is a great place and both our children born there. Pennsylvania is a Castle Doctrine state as well.

My two favorite carry pieces: First was Colt Combat Commander and later a SIG P220. both in .45.

I entered the Army when Carter was President. We were broke and in rough shape. Reagan became President and the economy took off and so did the rebuilding of our armed forces.

The 2nd Amendment has as much place in today's society as does slavery.

The USA has far more guns than any 1st world country and far and away more gun deaths than any 1st world country.
Must be a CRAZY coincidence!!
6 countries make up half of the gun deaths worldwide:
Guatemala
Venezuela
Colombia
Mexico
Brazil
USA

Yes, the USA can congratulate itself as running itself like a 3rd world sh!thole when it comes to protecting its citizens. The endless innocent slaughter of innocents will NEVER end in the USA as long as guns are legal for citizens. People put their personal gun ownership (which will do nothing for you) over the overall safety of a nation. Very laudable. 'Murica! Land of the corrupt NRA and endless shootings and deaths.

When you have a cancer like the USA gun culture, nothing positive will come out of it and nothing has compared to the carnage it has caused.
Spoken like a true sheeple.

Thanks for the responses folks, genuinely interested and not aiming to cast judgement at all. Here's another one for you then. If you could feel safe when out and about in your daily lives with little to no risk of being mugged/attacked, would you still want to carry your guns or would you be content with having them at home? Just to give you some perspective, I live in Somerset, UK. Famous for its Cider and strange accents (Google the Wurzels, no I don't dress like or even sound like that before anyone asks! ;-) ) The worst crime we have to deal with is people letting their dogs crap on the footpath and not clearing it up!
My Daughter lives in London, UK and wife and I visit on routine basis. All good - to be completely honest was more taken aback by the camera system and Big Brother watching. Guess there are a lot of pictures of dog's crapping on the footpaths? LOL

The unruly colonists are civilized across the pond. We have plastic bags for pick-up and doggie poop police.

Good question. I suspect most people don't mind being just a little mugged/attacked. Unfortunately, even those object to being a little murdered/raped/etc..

I am less likely to have my house burn down than be attacked. I still have fire extinguishers. Not having them would be massively stupid. Same as not having a gun.

Good analogy. Fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, CO detectors - even consider things like air bags and seat belts. I've never been in an accident where I needed either. I still always wear my seat belt and wouldn't even consider removing the air bags from my car.

Off topic but I’ve always been amused when I see people take their steering wheels off for a aftermarket one to look “cool” was big in the FRS community. A really good friend bought his daughter a 96 civic hatch, got her one of those cool nice GRIP steering wheels. I asked him if he was worried with no airbag and his 17 year old daughter driving it. He said airbags don’t do much and a way for the government to make money on regulations.. he has been on covers for his FRS and big in the harness and steering wheel thing. About 8 months later she was in a accident. Someone ran a red light, not sure if it was her or the other car but her pretty face no had a broken nose and stitches all across it. She was extremely pretty and did beauty pageants and all, now scared for life.. I wanted to be the prick that said told you soooo but she has to live with it for ever. Hey for 8 months it was “really cool”

Sick of people being so disrespectful and asking why I own a gun, implementing I have no right, that I'm scary, that it is some sort of perversion.

Why do you drive a Mustang when a Tercel will do the same thing, why do you need the extra horsepower, brakes, etc?
Why do you even need a car, when you can Uber. You really don't need a car?
Why do you have more than one car?
People who want your guns also usually believe you can control the climate, that we should have no borders, socialism is not communism, child porno is OK at public libraries. That you have free speech as long as you agree with them. Free college education, universal basic income, and soon to come basic allowance to purchase a home.
Its my frigging right and stay out of my business!

Wow, someones a tad sensitive. Heaven forbid someone asked you how your day was going? What's it got to do with them, bloody nosey bast**D's!
I asked a non judgemental question with the full respect of your rights and laws etc. I couldn't give a rats arse if you have guns or what you with them. I was genuinely interested in the thoughts of folks that have them as opposed to getting the views 2nd hand from news outlets and YouTube clips.
If you take offence at that, then good on you, that's your choice to do so.
Just on from your post, I own a Mustang because I like it and I enjoy driving it and the whole mod scene surrounding them. I don't have a scoobies what a Tercel is, but I'm assuming it's not inspiring!
Anyway, I'm off for a cuppa now, enjoy your day. (that wasn't a demand BTW, just a pleasantry) ;-)

You have to realize that people can easily see thru your passive aggression.

It was a question of genuine interest, that’s all, no hidden agenda.
Any way you approach this subject it clearly riles people up so probably best to just stick with the cars.

As for the passive aggressive accusation...nah, far too deep my friend, it was just plain sarcasm!

I just so tired of the same old arguments, when there shouldn't be one. Its my right, it not your right to try and take it away.
Just as it my right to buy a car that goes faster than speed limits and kill someone with it.
Yes I'm having a bad day after reading SOS knowing one day my rights will be taken away by people who have no respect for our constitution and our founding fathers intentions.
Hell ya I'm passive aggressive, and I say this while drinking my evening tea.

Ha, don't panic, you're safe as long as you keep the tin foil hat on!
I think it is safe to say that the US is a slightly different and more dangerous place than Somerset. You didn't mention sheep rustling by the way !

It reminds me of The Untouchables 'bringing a knife to a gunfight'. Of course if NOBODY had guns, NOBODY would get shot. It is a very different culture and at no point in my life here in the UK have I ever thought carrying a gun would be useful (or legal for that matter) Yes you might get stabbed over here, but you rarely get multiple stabbings simply because of the difficulty of doing it compared to multiple shootings which are far easier to achieve.

I think your questions were genuine rather than trolling and I too find the cultural differences interesting. It does seem that quite a few US gun owners are quite sensitive on the subject !

There's a double irony in that comparison: 1) American gun culture is undergirded by tyrannical British rule--thanks to King George III; 2) After Brexit, to avoid complete self-imposed isolationism, the next step will almost certainly be to become the 51st state, in which case all Brits will also be able to partake in gunfights. Took nearly 2 1/2 centuries to get there, but things appear to be on track... :)
