Changing tire sizes on my 19 GT for Winter Driving

My 19 GT has the PP1 staggered wheels and since I really like the looks so I've bought another set.
Currently I'm running the stock Michelin's, 255's in the front and 275's in the rear. I think I want to run Michelin Sport A/S 3+ for the winter months, 285/40/19 in the rear on the 9.5" wheels and I'm torn between either 265/40/19's or 275/40/19's. I'm not going to lower the Mustang as I come within 1/8" of scraping the jacking rails as it is, so, do you think the 275's will fit up front with 9" fronts?

Why go bigger for the winter setup? Winter traction would be better with narrower tires.

I would run 255/45R19 all around if you can find them, and if not, 265/40R19. 245/45R19 is a popular winter size but might be too stretched on the 9.5" wheel.

First, let me say the Mustang isn't my daily driver, I've got a Mini Cooper S to take care of those duties. I've had the car for 4+ months and only put 2700 miles on it. I just want to be able to drive it this winter when its cold and raining and won't be worried about sliding around too much. I disliked the Pirelli' P Zero's which are terrible in the cold and rain as are the Goodyear F1's although the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S's aren't much better when its cold and raining...the A/S 3+ are great in packed snow and rain along with withstanding colder temperatures than the 4 S's.
I got a good deal on the take off wheels, and bought the rear 285/40/19 Pilot Sport A/S 3+ Michelin's brand new for $300 which I thought was a great deal. Now I just want to know if the 275 or 265's will fit without rubbing.
I live in the Northwest, so I drive in rain and hard packed snow, with that said I'm not going to take Mustang out in really bad weather, she'll stay in the garage, now with that said I will take her out and want to make sure the tires will perform as they should in my kind of weather.
So, in hard packed snow, wider tires will help, although in powder or loose snow...a narrower tire would work better. In the rain the A/S 3+ are great and don't hydroplane except at speeds above our posted speeds.
Sorry to ramble, just looking at fitment issues with either the 265's...which I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have any, but really about putting 275's up front with the 9" wheels.

We don't have the winters you do back there, so I'm not really worried about going smaller because as soon as the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S's are gone I'll get something else, but will probably go bigger for the summer months which are dryer and warmer.

275/40R19 will fit on the front without rubbing, though not the best fit on the wheel. 265/40R19 would be better and still taller than OEM size for the AS3+.

OK. Agree the 275s will fit on 9 inch but are better suited for a wider wheel.

Nah. I ran 255/275 on 19's TOYO G3 ICE and deep snow/ice/slush no probs whatsoever. If the OP wants I'll give him a hell of a deal, they are basically take offs.

I appreciate the offer although I've already got the 285/40/19's for the rear and will probably go with 265/40/19's for the fronts until I have the PP1 wheels widened.

Thanks. Is this lowered a bit? Its hard to guage from the pics but are they visually bigger from stock? I dont want to change the ride height on my 19 GT PP1, but I dont mind filling the gap with a little more rubber. Besides, the roads here in NY are atrocious.

My old PP1 GT A10 was stock height and yes they were visibly larger in the fender well.
I had Michelin Pilot Sport 4S, and I changed to Pilot Sport A/S 3's. I bought another set of wheels so I didn't have to pull the tires off all the time. The front 255/40's were about 27" tall and the 265's were about 27.4" tall, not a lot but I didn't like the looks of the 275's, so I went with the 265's. The 275'/40's were about 27.5" tall and the 285's were about 28" tall, not a lot again, but looked nice. I could gone with the 295/40, but I couldn't fine them in the A/S 3, so I went with the 285's. Hope that helps.

Ha! I got the idea for your same sizes from you over on the s197 forum!
Now all I have to do is find some roto formed 19x9/10 wheels I like.
You'd think that would be easy, but no.
Apparently 19x10/11 is all anyone is interested in.
But I shall persevere........
I remember you sold your pp1 so you probably won't see this.
