Anyone thinking of actually purchasing this thing? I am!

I understand some folks don’t like the new electric vehicle because it has the pony on it and all, but that’s not what this thread is for. This thread is for discussion of the vehicle itself, not whether you think it should be linked to the Mustang brand.

So, what say you? Does anyone think it’ll be sporty but also luxury-oriented like the Taycan, I-Pace, and Model Y? Those are the comparables, apparently. But at $40k...

Might be an interesting option when I replace the wife's Cherokee. Of it's AWD, I'd definitely consider it.

Same here. This could be my wife’s next car. I do not think it will compete with the Porsche or Jag, what Ford could. But with a modicum of sportiness and luxury it could very well be a winner. Forget that $40k starting figure. Just like the $59,995 C8. I’m betting on a higher range model like a Titanium being closer to $50k.

From the great article linked below (bold in the original):

It will have rear- and all-wheel drive.
In electric vehicles, you have the opportunity to provide four wheel drive with reasonable engineering and cost. So it can be an advantage. “The performance will be aspirational,” said [Darren Palmer, the product development global director for battery-electric cars at Ford]. “And at the higher end, I think you need it to be four-wheel drive.”

Wow, I hadn’t considered the trim levels beyond one or two batteries. Doubt they’d go with GT considering this is electric, but idk. Seems there’d be more info on trademarks but all I see online is for “Mustang Mach-E.”

Edit: From the article linked below which is really just speculation:

“Whether the longest-range and performance models will be one and the same wasn't stated, though the latter, hesitantly referred to as "GT," is claimed to do zero-to-60 in 3.5 seconds or less.”

So faster then our stock GT’s. I can hardly wait for the posts on that.

Off the line, sure, but I’m really curious how it accelerates at speed, too.

Depends. If it has decent performance and an exceptional range (comparable or better than current offerings), then likely as a winter DD and save/preserve the Mustang during winter.

Edit: Looked at the link after posting....uhhh, even though camo'd it reminds me of a Pontiac Aztec or something...so no.

LOL I can assure you the Mach E won’t look like this.

Honestly, I'd have more interest in this if it didn't have the "inspired by Mustang" connection. If they put a pony on its nose, or badge it as part of the Mustang family..........well, my respect for Ford will be surely tested.

The thing is, I expect this to be a superb car but it shouldn't need to rely on the Mustang cool factor to be accepted.

I'll wait to see the real thing before passing final judgment.

It doesnt have a V8 so its not for me.

i prefer an actual 12oz ribeye to a "meat derived product" steak... That car has nothing to do with the mustangs so it kind of irks me that they are branding it like that... It should be good enough to stand on its own feet, they didnt have to do that. Some marketting douchebag probably came up with that idea...

That said it's probably the future of all cars but im gonna live in the past till they make it illegal...

I’m in if it’s 40k and delivers 300 miles range and decent performance. Manufacturers always seem to under deliver on range and pricing though.

Why didn't they link this to the Lincoln brand? Or just not link it to the Mustang? I won't get bent out of shape over it but I don't get it.

Electric vehicles have that "I'm just a appliance" feel about them.

No soul man, just no soul.......
