Just an FYI in the event folks are in need of the docs and didn’t see this in the other thread I responded to....

Seems like the MT82 was manufactured with some inferior parts...

If an MT82 Owner doesn’t suffer from the stack-up tolerance issue, then there’s the possibility of breaking the 1-2 shift forks, if you make it past breaking the 1-2 shift forks, then chances are the 3-4 shift forks will fail... hell, anyone willing to bet the next TSB will be for the 5-6 shift forks!?

See Offical Ford TSB docs - and don’t let any Dealership Service Center tell you guys anything else, such as not being covered under warranty...

Thank you for posting this! Glad to know it wasn’t my shifting that the 1-2 lock out at high rpm wasn’t my fault lol

What are the problems w/ a 2017 GT tranny? Someone told me the MT82 is only rated for 400ish HP. Any truth?
I've only driven my '17 2k miles and only a few really fast hard shifts 1-2 & 2-3. I've missed 3rd a couple times while hard accel and seems like I didn't push it hard enough into 3rd so I just bailed and let off the gas.

The 2019 service manual rates the MT-82 at 480 N*M (354 lb*ft). This is less than the output of a 5.0 (420 lb*ft).

Yep, did more research. Apparently I really didn't keep up on this. When I had my 2014 Track Pack car it was 75w90 recommended I'm pretty sure. Thought it was the same for the Boss but I do kind of remember running into sites like Royal Purple starting to show they didn't have an equivalent fluid. Oh well, for warranty sake I'll use what's recommended or go BG fluids.

I just broke the 2nd gear shift fork... Wonder if I can talk them into 18-2351 and get 1-4 replaced.

Might be able to since they have to remove the trans and crack the case to fix the 1-2 cluster. Won’t hurt to ask and mention the 3-4 TSB.

I'm going to revive this thread to ask if there has been any 2019+ cars with this issue. I think Ford fixed this issue for 2019, but want to hear it from actual owners :). I'm honestly not worried, since I drive my car sedately, but just curious. Thx.

thank you @Cobra Jet !!!!! Just bought a new-to-me 2018 GT Premium PP yesterday. On the drive home I experienced the weird phenomenon of the shifter popping out of 2nd gear. LOL, I heard these transmissions were problematic but couldn't contain myself after hearing the exhaust note. Off to the stealership I go tomorrow. This forum is a lifesaver.
