2017 GT350 or Brand new GT PP2

Hi folks, I'm new to the Mustang world but I'm torn between a used 2017 GT350 or a brand new GT Performance Pack 2 fully loaded. I actually already bought the PP2 but car will only arrive by end of the month so I can get away if want to. Saw a few Gt350 for sale here in the forum in the $45k price range. the PP2 has all possible optionals at MSRP: 51940 and I got it for $46500 +tax with 0% finance through Ford.

From my view, the PP2 has a lot more technology and its a brand new car and has by far the best looking wheels of any Mustang from factory imo. the Gt350 carries the Shelby name and I do like the the fact that has better transmission and a higher rev engine. Performance wise I believe the new GT with Intake, headers and E85 tune can get higher whp numbers than I GT350 with tune and headers. Correct if I am wrong.

But aside from value, what would be a better value for the money?
Car will be a daily driver with possible occasional track days.

If you're wanting the most power for the money, get the GT if you're adamant on potentially voiding your warranty right out the gate. I don't know how much the 2019 GT motor is, but it's $26k for the 2019 Voodoo motor before labor.

That GT will be worth less than that used Shelby when you get off the lot, and it'll get worse as the years go by. My Shelby is still worth around 80% of what I paid for it 3 years ago.

If you can go drive them back to back. But you really need to be out on the open road or twisty road to feel the difference. I doubt you will get that on a test drive around the block. The only dealer that ever wanted me to drive the car harder and harder on a test drive, was Porsche. I generally don't poke around on them. But I took a 911 out and he knew the back roads nearby, it was my first time driving a rear engine car so I did not want to wadd it up. But he kept egging me on to go faster and faster. When I got my 350, I had a gentle ride around the block....even that took some talking to get a test drive. Otherwise it was a signed contract before you drive it.

Take my word for it sometimes it's not all about power and the 350 engine will provide you with an experience you can only get from foreign flat plane crank exotics. The suspension, brakes, transmission are all in another league compared to the PP2. The PP2 in my opinion is bolt on parts like the wheel and tire setup when the car wasn't designed from the start to have them on there like the 350 was with every single component. My example is how you cant put the PP2 tires on a normal PP Mustang because the body wasn't really designed for it so they just stuck on big sport cup 2's to get grip and the magniride has a noticeable difference between the 2

Between the trans, the brakes, and the noise i bought a new gt350 and am so glad i did.

That’s right, and for good reason. My buddy has one with a PP1 package. That trans overheats, I helped him install a cooler for it as well.

Correct. Coolers are another example of a more capable setup from factory for the 350 if OP planned on tracking any.

From what I've been searching the PP2 suspension setup should be close if not better than a 2017 gt350. Remember the revised 2019 gt350 is not in the equation here. the comparison is a 2017 gt350 vs a brand new PP2 since price wise they are in the same level. Even a 2018 can be bought nowadays brand new for 55k.

The PP2 does not have the same brakes or better ones than the 350. Not even close. People forget that. A big brake kit from Brembo with all four rotors and calipers would cost you over 5k alone. The 350 comes with them.

If I was you I would wait until the 2020 350s come out and then get a new 19 off the lot for mid 50's just like how you can still find 18's for 52-55K new right now.
