PRINT MONEY LOL So it will make more money per unit than their trucks?
You obviously havnt been following GM truck sales. Even RAM is outselling them now. That makes GM in 3rd. Behind Ford and RAM.

GM is making money off fullsize SUV market and crossover sales NOt pickup sales thats for damn sure.

They dont even sell alot of those. Gm's is in deep doo if they dont get the trucks up. Take that to the bank.

118-119 stock. Tune with corn 122-124.

Whats even funnier is that GM guys are now comparing corvettes to mustang. Mustang did the camaro in AGAIN lol
Those 118 119 traps are outliers. Most trap less than 117, look at our fast list.

I don’t think that’s what’s happening. What appears to be happening is that a mid engine supercar is being offered at the same price as a high end Mustang and that’s making people think “hmmmm....maybe I can get one of those”. It’s like shopping for an Apple Watch and seeing that there’s a Tag Heuer available for the same price. A lot of people are gonna think about it.

Don’t be mistaken. GM is still making money off pickups. Just less than they would like. There were years during C6 and C7 when the per unit profit for Vettes was higher than the per unit profit of trucks, but GM does make a whole lot more trucks. By factors of 10. Then there’s Escalade.

I wonder how well the lt2 will respond to tune and mods and e85 compared to our 5.0s or 5.2's? Its 11.5 compression vs our 12, so it has less compression. Will probably respond a bit less to boost. The big question is can the stock lt2 fuel system take e85 with no mods? LT1 needs injectors. Rev limiter is 6600, mines 8200 with a tune 7500 and 7800 shift points. I bet it needs mods to run e85 and responds less to e85 and boost. Higher torque is actually negative IMO , probably has a much lower HP threshhold before the torque gets too high for the rods. (edit, apparently pistons are the weak point at 650 for lt1)

FTFY :D

It’s a Corvette, the GT500 is a Mustang, with all the good/bad/history that comes with either of those domestic vehicles :)

Maybe for the older crowd who typically buy convertibles ( no offense meant) and 2 seater corvettes but it isn’t practical for most people. No matter how awesome it is, and it is pretty awesome, an I love it but with 2 seats it might as well be a really fast Harley trike all the seniors are driving around in.

LT1 doesn't need injectors to run e85. e85 and a tune seems to net around 20-30whp. Mild bolt ons / e85 / tune Camaro's are usually in the 460-480whp and tq range. Even an all out N/A build is fine on the stock injectors. I think most tuners bump the rev limiter up to 7000.

It's when you start adding boost that fuel becomes an issue, especially on e85.

LT1 block / crank / rods are good for 1000+ hp. Pistons are the weak point, anything over 650 is pushing it. LT4 has forged pistons.

The additional output, which jumps from 455/460 hp and 460/465 lb-ft in the LT1 to 490/495 hp and 465/470 lb-ft in the LT2 (the higher figures are with the optional performance exhaust, which adds a second set of flapper valves)
LT2 without performance exhaust is 490hp / 465 lb-ft.

Most of the HP gain was being able to put what's basically a hi-ram intake manifold on it. Even a stock LT1 responds really well to a ported or MSD intake / tb combo

That article says 465 hp and 470 tq without the performance exhaust on the LT2. Pretty hard to believe the non performance exhaust clogs up that much HP though, or the performance exhaust gains may be exaggerated. Anyway it appears the safe HP limit on 5.0s is about 200 hp more than lt1 , not sure about the lt2 limits. I think the lower torque is what helps the 5.0s survive more hp.

I do not know much about the limits of the voodoo 5.2, and obviously dont know about the limits of the new gt500 beast mode engine. Id hope ~950 rwhp+ is somewhat safe on the new gt500.

490 hp 465 lb-ft for standard exhaust
495 hp 470 lb-ft for performance.
