I don't mind them as long as they do something. However, I bet in the lower models they will be blocked off and you have to pay extra to get openings rather than block offs. At least in the C5 GM put up the money to do different body panels in the lower models that didn't need the extra vents. Lately they just have blocked panels everywhere.

I'm assuming it's for the engine compartment breathing / fresh air exit from the air ducts on the side of the car.

Those vents are most likely fully functional. Mid engine is a complete pain from a heat perspective.

This car looks like a complete money hole for GM. Creating a one off platform from scratch to win a race. Not a very wise business decision to me if winning also intels turning a profit.
