Some floozy edited last year's slide and paid no attention to (likely) obsolete graphics. You have to remember, the people who edit Powerpoint slides are rarely very intelligent nor scrutinize the resulting product with due care.
I doubt that was the case at all and suggest that Ford was very happy to keep the "Boss 302" nameplate on those graphics just as they continued to display "50 Years Of Mustang" on those same graphics as well.

The Boss 302 name continues to be very hallowed ground at Ford's corporate headquarters in Michigan ( and at Multimatic Motorsports for that matter) especially with such instrumental personnel as Dave Pericak and Jim Farley along with many of their other peers therefore the Boss 302 name still carries a lot of passion and weight in Dearborn therefore they will continue to display that name for many years to come.

Why would they? Quite a few dealerships don't have the market to support specialist models if they even "carry" the Mustang beyond the EB. Sure, $2000 is a rounding error and not an imposition on any dealership's finances. But if they can potentially "only get 1 of each" there's little point. I would be surprised if much more than half of dealerships sign up for the program. Or if they "all" do, then it's under the assumption they'll use the cars for "marketing" purposes and a means of getting foot traffic in the door with the hope of selling them one of the bread and butter models.

We don't know what the dealer holdback and floor financing rates (and insurance) is for having them in the show room. These are bigger financial considerations than the enrollment "fee".
Most any dealership would be able to turn a GT500 in no time including small and remote dealerships and probably more than MSRP especially based on the initial demand for the 2020MY.

Can you imagine a small town dealership being allocated a CFTP car based on the Ford lottery system as those ~1250 cars will be sought after and coveted by individuals all over North America. That would be hitting the jack pot for any dealership let alone one of the small guys.

With financing money still relatively cheap these days financing a ~$65,000 vehicle can be had for ~$190.00 a month therefore I don't see financing a GT500 or a GT350R being an issue at this point.

The $1000 enrollment fee for each vehicle is also a no brainer especially on a GT500 allocation as that car would be gone prior to hitting their showroom floor.

Just the foot traffic alone that a GT500 would bring in would be worth the price of admission subject to keeping the car around for any length of time.

I'm a little confused. ~$190 a month for a $65K car. Even at 0% and 84 months, $190 a month only gets you $16K of car. I think you are off by a factor of 4 or 5.

So, Ford only produced about 500 GT350 R Mustangs per year and now they may produce 840 GT350 R Mustangs for model year 2020. That is almost double the number produced in prior years. I think Ford has finally listened to us about increasing production of the GT350 R. Yahoo !

A few years ago, a Ford dealer told me that he had to pay to enroll in the program and have one of his mechanics certified by Ford to work on the Shelbys. If that is the case, some small dealers may not be able to have a mechanic trained by Ford.

Considering you can find a decent handful of 350R still new for sale, I doubt they are going to produce any more than 500. It's possible the hoopla over the GT500 will bump demand for the 350R - ie. people who can't stretch that far (perhaps in light of ADM) settle for the lesser brother.

If the economy turns in earnest I expect numbers will crater on all three trims.

Do you guys really not know about floorplan financing? It's not remotely the same thing as YOU the consumer buying the car.

Ahh, yeah, it wasn't not knowing it so much as assuming the wrong context. I think a few of us thought he was suggesting how quickly the car could be moved (i.e., it wouldn't be a concern for a small dealer to get one) vs. the cost to the dealer themselves to have the car at their showroom.

Who cares what the dealer is paying?

Everything has opportunity or carrying costs. The sub-topic had to do with to what degree the small, remote dealers would be participating in the program. If they have to have a certified Mech too, that adds a big cost increase that they would need to recover. Nobody here knows the covenant terms. It's not unreasonable for Ford to prevent participant dealers from flipping their cars to other participants until 6 months has passed, as an example.

I know a small dealership that paid 2000 for 1 GT 500 AND 1 GT 350. They will be asking 3000 over MSRP. It will be a probably late build. I don't think we will be get the carbon fiber or track pac. PM me and can tell you the dealer name.

I would suggest that you and a couple of other individuals on here are the ones who are confused and need to reread post #88 again.

What the original poster was discussing was centered around dealership floor plan financing and the burden of his costs to carry a vehicle at a Ford dealership and not an individual purchasing a $65,000 car.

At an interest rate of 3.5% for a $65,000 vehicle is the annual cost for financing not $2275 or $189.58 per month that will be born by a Ford dealership?

What am I missing here?
