Good eye. I put this together to illustrate the differences between the two...

R vs standard I'm sure. Oh I can't wait.... Imagine what this car could do if it was done right..... I'll have it just in time for Daytona next year (unless it winds up being a disapointment).

I'm optimistic. I think it will be the next evolution of the 350. 1/14, tick tock.

Not seeing any paddle shifters, probably just a rendering anyways and not the real deal.

January 14, 2019 can't come soon enough!!!

Please be 800+ hp!!!

I hope there are 3 versions of the car, but there probably will be just 2.
I’m assuming base and R. What would you want the 3rd version to be?

Likely standard 500 and KR version. Or ford switching up aesthetics in the areas they still have time to.

I assume there will be a GT500 & GT350R.

Just hoping for a GT500KR or a GT500 drag pack or the like.

I know there will probably be just two versions which is fine (great) but I can still hope for three.

I was comparing this recent photo against from GT350 pics at roughly the same angle - this doesn't look like there's any additional rear fender width, but I realize it might be hard to see (or compare) without two photos at the exact same angle, scale, etc.

I had hoped it wouldn't be the same at the GT350 with only different front fenders vs. the GT.

I was hoping it would be a little wider to so they could put 325 or 335 tires on the rear.

I believe the plastic piece that runs along the side of the car at the bottom is wider.

I like to disassemble things.
The tooling cost to widen the quarter panels, inner fender wells, etc, are in the millions of dollars. You won't see a change there. Up front, however, we are likely to be told that the composite fenders are a total (so between both both sides and not just one) of 1.5" wider than the rest of the S550 lineup, excluding the GT350.

I’d like to see that as well, but like you I doubt it happens. It bee cool for a KR with a motor powering the front wheels to aid in traction. That would be a fast street/strip car!!

Ford would make much more, and the dealers less if Ford would build to demand. Like Dodge with the Hellcats. No wonder Challenger is outselling Mustang lately.
It sure is easy to pick a specific period of time when discussing production numbers of the Challenger versus the Mustang especially when Ford has not even produced a single 2019 GT350 or R model let alone the long delay for the upcoming GT500.

Just imagine where the production numbers will be for Ford when FR finally launches the 2019 GT350/R this Spring and eventually builds the new GT500 simultaneously later this year.

Just to keep all recent production numbers for the Challenger and Mustang in perspective the Challenger was not even close to the Mustang this last production year (2018) as Ford produced over 9000 more Mustangs compared to the Challenger and from a percentage standpoint that comes out to ~14% more than the Dodge Boys could produce and sell all while not one Shelby GT350/GT500 was produced.

If you don't think that Ford can't ramp up production when they want to just look at the 2007 GT500 production numbers which totaled almost 11,000 cars for one MY.

If you want to take production numbers a step further with respect to the last 10 production years between the Mustang and Challenger it is almost embarrassing for the Dodge Boys as Ford has produced ~65% more Pony Cars than the Challenger ~(330,000 cars) over the last 10 years.

If anyone thinks that the Challenger will ever outsell the Mustang over the long term they best think again.

:)

I just can't understand Ford acting like the GT350 is built of unobtanium when there could be so many more sales. Dealers would rather sell one car in 6 months at a $15K profit than sell 10 cars at $5K profit at sticker.

Personally I don't think that producing ~18,000 GT350/R's over the last 3 MY's is all that bad and if someone really wanted at GT350/R over the last 3 and now 4 years (2019) they could have located one for purchase.

As far as suggesting that Ford should have produced 10X the above number of cars I would suggest that building ~180,000 FPC engines over the last 3 years at the Romeo Niche engine plant would have been logistically impossible.

Remember that each FPC engine is assembled by 2 individuals at the Romeo engine plant therefore that is one of the restrictions that limit the GT350/R's to the above production numbers.
