Was anyone in this thread able to run a 3.75 pulley on 93 octane with just the dw 400 pump and without adding a fuel additive?

I am. I just logged it this morning. I saw up to 4 deg timing added in the mid range but 2 taken out over 7000 rpm. It was running 14.5 deg advance before the shift.

Just today I dropped to 3.625 and put a bottle of boostane in. Hopefully I can get a log tomorrow.

How much boost are you making now?

For those who have a whipple tune now and debating whether to switch to PBD/Lund to be able to run E85 or wait on the whipple stage 3rd tune ... I would wait especially since I heard Lund is no longer tuning for E85 with the BAP .

I don’t think whipple would mind me posting here but here is the update I got yesterday.

837 hp with the 3.75 pulley/E85 flex tune in 6th gear
That’s more than I made with 3.625 pulley/E85/PBD tune/7th gear .

Just following up with more logging/testing:

Yesterday, I saw up to 4 deg timing added in the mid range but 2 taken out over 7000 rpm. It was running 14.5 deg advance before the shift. That was 3.75 on 93.

Today, I ran the 3.625 pulley. I added half a bottle of boostane to half a tank of gas. It added 2 deg through the power range, then slacked off to adding 0.6 above 7200 rpm. Max timing at WOT was 18, dropping to 17 at the very top end.

To summarize, I dropped from 3.75 to 3.625 and added the equivalent of 1 bottle of boostane to a tank of gas. The result was that it added 2 deg timing. Ambient was about 15 deg hotter as well.

Thanks for the info. I want to see a half a can with a full tank of gas. Just curious to see what it does as the whipple tune the timing is capped.

My plan is actually to test exactly that by doubling the gas in the tank. Hopefully I can get this done next week.

Awesome cant wait to see results. My thinking is if a half can/16oz does the job. Then there is no reason to waste it as it's not so cheap haha

FYI for those running Whipple's calibration, I got a new version, 2-5.

Had a chance to install yesterday and drive around for awhile to allow it to do some learning.

It drove really well in "Drive" and "Sport". I did notice that cold start RPM ramping appears to be more linear instead of the bouncing like I saw with version 2-3. You do not get a list of updates so have to try to notice differences.

So I give this a  for continuous improvement on these calibrations. Looking forward to continued improvements and PID additions to Tomahawk for logging.

Good job Whipple!

Is anyone having brief power hiccups that only occur when letting it shift (vs manually shifting)?

I would say I saw this with version 2-1 and earlier. I believe it may have been due to torque control kicking in. You don't get this info with the Tomahawk. However, since that revision I now got HP Tuners logging working and can see torque control pulling throttle due to subtle wheel slip.

I have 2-5 and it did it on the last cal as well. It only does it when I try to let it shift itself, always happens between 6 and 7000 rpm, and it does it with tc on or off, advancetrac on or off. The throttle stays wide open but lambda goes lean for one data cycle, stft’s go high then come back down. When holding it in gears using “s” and paddle shifting it pulls clean every time.
