Think the curb weight is plausible. When you figure wider bodywork, heavier engine (not just supercharger, but also absence of weight savings in a CPC (compared to FPC), heavier transmission, heavier wheels, heavier brakes, far more coolers, 400 lbs gain vs 3,800 lb GT350 pencils out pretty well. While the track times will likely be faster than the R, slugging 400-500 extra lbs in a torque-monster really lacks any sort of appeal for me. Needs to be below 4k pounds to make interesting. Otherwise, holding onto the R for a very long time.

Wow, this is super disappointing. I was already disappointed with the speculated looks of the car, but if these really are the specs, then it’s a flop. Basically a car that’ll get its ass handed to it in the straights by a redeye and get smacked around on track by a 1LE. Please Ford, work some magic and give us at least 750hp/3950lbs
Yeah. But it will be faster around track than the ZL1 and faster in straight than the new 717HP Hellcat. You can’t say it’s not a WIN; a well balanced car.

When you’re as late to the party as Ford is you need to beat the best your competition has to offer. Faster than a Redeye in a straight line and faster on the track than a ZL1 1LE or why bother?

Anyone know what a GT350 weighs..? (& GT350 R ..?)

I would think the GT500 will weigh almost the same as a GT350 does + whatever a Roush Supercharger kit weighs..?

For the GT500's total weight, you will have to factor in all the additional weight reduction the GT500 will have over the GT350. Additionally, it dep[ends on what GT500 version... are you(we) are talking about (GT500/GT500 R/GT500 KR..?), because the more you pay, the more carbon fiber parts you get.

There isn't one GT500, but three.

BS. They don’t NEED to beat the best of the competition, people would love to see that, I totally get it.... but really? Is it something they NEED TO do? No, it’s not.

This GT500 will be just an additional option to the menu, there’s nothing wrong with that. A lot of people will be pleased with this offering.

It might not be as fast as the 797HP RedEye but dude, it WILL be able to turn. It might not be “as fast” as the ZL1 1LE around Track (speaking for the GT500, not the GT500R btw), but it won’t necessarily compromise the daily driving capabilities and it will be a lot faster on straight line.

You don’t need to be THE BEST in every topic/scenario to be the “Overall Best” or “The Best Option”.

To have any sort of track cred, it's going to need some major cooling modifications beyond slapping on a supercharger. Look at the ZL1 and add another 70+ bhp. Coolers/tubing/fluids will add a lot of weight that a CF hood (GT350 already aluminum) or trunk lid isn't gonna fully offset

If it weighs this much I'm headed the Z06 direction. Still holding out hope but I always thought this was gonna be a pig due to the base s550 GT curb weight. I'll rock the Z06 for a few years while I wait for the S650 Gt500!

People still think this is real?
Typos aside, unfortunatelly it looks pretty credible/likely.

I’m not very fond to the weight, but I don’t see how this could be a “complete disappointment” either.

If this information pans out to be true I'm going to be in Corvette land longer than expected. :(

I'm not interested in a 4000+ lbs Mustang. The curb weight of an auto ZL1 Camaro is 3,883 lbs. so Ford should be able to get within 100 lbs. of it with the GT500.
Except the mid engine vette will not be in the same price point. 70-80 GT500 100+ MID engine vette. These are all estimates according to forum news.

Birdies around Detroit are saying mid 70s for base model mid-engined Vette.
