What tire pressures are you running for Michelin Pilot Sport 4S on S550 PP1?

I have a 2018 PP1, and I’ve kept mine at 32 PSI cold per Fords spec for daily driving. When on the track, I’ve been dropping them to 35 PSI hot (approx 29/30 PSI cold)

Had my car on a lift yesterday and noticed the middle of the tires are wearing faster than the inside and outside of the tires. More predominantly on the front than the rear, but happening on both axels.

I guess that means the pressures are too high, but I wonder where other people are setting pressures and what are you seeing.

its not the tire pressure. It is the alignment. Check out other post on this topic.

+1

The factory alignment settings aren't great for this.

Start with this one. It will tell you what to do. I use my GT as a daily freeway driver so I had a custom alignment done to give me a good flat tire wear all around. I figure my driving skills should make up for any degrade in handling that may have been introduced.

I meant to express that the middle of my tires are wearing faster than the outsides of the tires, i.e. the middle is worn more than both inside and outside of the tires.

Do you still think it’s the alignment? Or something else?

Tire inflation. Google "tire wear chart"

How are you measuring pressure? Do you have a good tire pressure gauge or the TPMS sensors?

I have a good tire gauge, do not rely on TPMS.

Only thing I can think of is that 35 PSI Hot is too high during track days.

IDK, I ran a set of MPSS from new to dead at 32psi cold pressure, with only street use, and wear was even across the face. They actually wore out the inside edge due to camber/toe I assume.

I'm guessing maybe its the track pressures too. I mean, how much of your tire wear is from street and how much is from track? (its mostly track wear, right?)

Tires are at 5k miles, and I’ve done 2 track days (2.5 hrs total session time). I have to assume it’s the track pressure that’s too high...but I feel like the tires get up to 35+ PSI off the track when they start at 32 PSI cold.

Oh for sure, you definitely need to drop those starting pressures when you get to the track. < 36 psi hot is a good target, just to keep the shoulders from rolling over, but if you get bad wear at 35 hot, try a bit lower and see if the grip is still ok.

I havent run them on a road course except twice and one of those was in the wet, so I cant say what to expect from wear at different hot track pressures.
