No doubts that I was pushing the car "slightly" more than a novice could.

I have over 25 years of racing under my belt, from formula V to vintage Mustangs to a Roush Trans-Am Mustang

i have to say that i was overall impressed with the car, especially the braking and handling and it's why the overheating issues are so disappointing

Regarding the cost of the PP, I would have gladly pay more for a package that included the extra cooling that is NECESSARY to push the car on a track

Buy it. It's available on the open market for not to much coin. Maybe ask Ford to make available a 'Track cooling package', or buy your own, either way, i don't find Ford to be Amiss in their equipment. 32k dollars does not buy you a Iron Track beater. That said, If the only problem you had was a heated rear diff, I'd say Ford did pretty well for 32k. Add some cooling.

The Camaro 1SS has these coolers. Started at $37k including destination. The Mustang started at $33, with the $3k PP option, and $900 destination. And it still doesn't have said coolers?

What's your point again?
Yep, and every single camaro owner that will never use them or track their car get's to pay extra for them. Hurray for them. ;)

Oh, and the PP was only a $2500 option in 15 and 16. ;)

You mentioned you had aftermarket catback exhaust.

Might be that mustang standard exhaust is heating up rear diff more than yours.

What is your catback brand/model?
Corsa sport catback.

I think the fluid was a bigger factor based on the thread in the hpde section. BG seems to be THE stuff to run.

I have a temp sticker on there too and didn't register anything on it.

The Joe Gibbs oil I put in my rear diff fixed my rear overheating issues.

Also, 270 is fine in these engines. I think 284 is the warning area IIRC. My buddy's 1LE lives at 275 on track.

Might be worth it for you to put together a cooler, especially if you are a fast driver.

Let me preface my comment by first stating that I agree with you wholeheartedly. However, Ford is not selling the PP1 or PP2 GT's with the intent that they be viewed as street legal track cars, they're being sold with the intent that they be seen as high performance street vehicles you can toss around on a track. Subtle but important distinction. Marketing issues concerning that distinction were one of the reasons the S550 got the "performance package" instead of the "track package."

Yes, the PP2 that is a step above the standard PP and has barely streetable tires and costs almost exactly what the 1LE costs obviously is not intended to compeate with it.

It's like getting in a race with someone, losing badly, then claiming "oh I wasn't really racing".

Are you running PSC2s on the street?

If Ford was trying to beat the SS 1LE I'm sure they could put the interior of an 80s Escort in it and spend the saved money on perf parts to do so. Then, they would be on even terms.

They're NOT track cars. That's it, that's all there is to it.

If you want to track a car, you've got to modify it to do so. It's not hard, it's not expensive.

Go tell that to ford, they are the one calling the GT PP a " race -ready machine"

Have you ever been to an open-track event???????

Unless it's a 1LE where $7000 (formerly $6500) buys you everything you need. But for some reason, Ford can't provide nearly the same content for $6500 - 8500.

The MY15 performance pack was $2500, and that's what the complaint in here is about.

It's marketing, not to be taken seriously.

I'd like to do a VIR FATT, maybe next year. I am deathly worried I'll crash my car, and I know I'd need to do some stuff like cooling for the diff and transmission.
