Friend of Dorothy I was thinking along these lines but I can't see how they'll fit a 4d cage under a 2d body.

Do you know if they lengthened or shortened the Falc wb?

It's confirmed to be V8. Don't know how the V6 reports started.

I think the current Supercar V8 is an old Ford Racing 'crate' racing engine. It will continue on in the Mustang it seems.

Ford Performance in the USA will do most of the design and development of the car according to Tim Edwards of Tickford Racing today.
The current engine that Ford and Holden use is pushrod and based on US designs, but news reports indicate that next year's car will use a version of the Coyote. Nissan and Volvo use engines based on their own DOHC/4V engines.

I'd think that the vast majority of the work will be done by Multimatic, rather than Ford Performance. They're the company that has the racing experience in the US.

Ryan Story confirmed in the press conference that they'll using the existing 5.0l which is pushrod v8 based on Ford Racing Boss 302 Block.

Not that I'd like to see a move away from V8s, but the Ford GT's Ecoboost 3.5 is a proven unit so if Holden does ever use a TTV6, and it does prove to be superior to the V8, at least the Ford teams can rest easy knowing they won't have much development to do.

Roland Dane may also want to start thinking about validating Camaro because from a marketing aspect it won't be good thing for Holden racing a bum dragger when they will, by the end of this year, have a Camaro sitting in their showrooms. And if he doesn't team Walkandretti will.

It would be interesting to know if Multimatic will be involved.

Just noticed there is a branch here in Melbourne. Not sure if it is a significant outpost or not: http://www.multimatic.com/contact-us/multimatic-engineering/multimatic-engineering-australia/

The V6 is a nice backup plan to have for later. I guess the end of the V8 in racing one day is inevitable...unless carbon’s involvement in global change is disproven in the meantime.

Should be like old days; stock auto, factory air, standard tyres, factory oil cooler.
This guy probably suits your criteria with this car:

Ford Performance has a guy with extensive F1 aerodynamics experience, former Red Bull aerodynamic specialist Tommy Joseph.
http://fordauthority.com/2018/04/ford-used-formula-one-expertise-to-develop-its-nascar-mustangs-aero/

Mark Rushbrook, global director of Ford Performance mentions Supercars in this article, so I imagine Tommy Joseph would be part of the Mustang homologation process: http://performance.ford.com/series/stock-car-racing/news/articles/stock-car-racing/2018/04/mark-rushbrook-mustang-in-nascar-cup-series-2019.html

It seems like they have some interesting tools to work with, hopefully enough to overcome the suggested disadvantages the Mustang shape has over the current cars.

Same as the current DJRTP Falcons underneath. Kind of like a ZB Commodore with no ZB Commodore parts underneath.

They better be competitive, Mustang soundly beaten by a 4 door entry level family sedan just doesn't seem right
