I read a few posts on the Chevy Truck forums and in typical fashion most are praising GM when not to long ago those same folks were trashing the 3.5 and 2.7 Ecoboost F150’s. I see it as a huge flop like most GM “great” ideas.

Next they'll have aluminum bodies too, and the GM fan boys will think it's the best idea ever then.

That is one ugly truck. I think Arnold in Predator sums it up best. "You're one ugly MF"

And GM's engine offerings make no sense. You can only get the 6.2 in the top trims? Forcing people that migh want/need the most powerful engine into the top trims doesn't seem like a good idea to me. As a consumer that would drive me to look at other brands.

You can get the 3.5 in every trim of F-150 IIRC. I know for sure you can get it in XLT & Lariat. Not sure about XL

I think Ford is doing the same thing with their little diesel motor (only making it available in higher trims).

I agree on the preference to be able to choose trim and engine independently.

The diesel is available in XL trim but to fleet customers only. Pretty stupid decision not offering it in XLT or Lariat.

Is it 2.7l turbo? If it's an inline motor with forged internals from the factory then it's a somewhat, well, somewhat reasonable choice.

If it's the typical open deck, cast rods, mediocre torque bs then this is fail.

Since it’s a 4 cylinder single turbo, it’s still no match against the 2.7 ecoboost. It’s also in a heavy all steel truck. I think it’s gonna flop.

It's a replacement for the 4.3 V6 engine - except in the Work truck line. You won't see many of these on dealer lots unless they are white and well, work trucks.
