For it to be an R the placard must start with HR
This is a legitimate R model with the factory placing a wrong chassis plate onto the dash.

Someone had a bad day in FR if they cannot tell the difference between a regular GT350 and an R model.

Just the same kind of cool and would probably just leave the wrong chassis plate in place and keep the correct one in the glove compartment as would always be quite a conversation piece at C&C etc.

I wonder if the total number of R models for the 2017MY has now increased by one and now to 943 cars (HR943) all depending what the new chassis number comes back at?

;)

Sorry, brain-farted that...they quoted me $84K, which I'm pretty sure I could get a 2018 for that if I searched hard enough. I want to send greedy, short-sighted dealers like this that don't know their market this article in hopes it gets to their sales manager, but it's probably a waste of time.

Friendly suggestion: Please try to read the whole post before posting a reply-I said I had the window sticker (which by proxy means I had the vin too) in the first post.
That's a good article, and unfortunately probably what is going to happen to the halo Mustangs.

Honestly, I think it already has (to a certain extent). Lots sitting on dealer lots, low trade-in values, and Iā€™d bet many who could afford the big ADMs drove the car for a while and then got rid of it after they realized itā€™s not worth the $80-90k they paid.

ADMs ruin car sales. Savvy customers know to wait until the market collapses (usually too late to save the model) and impatient customers get bored, frustrated and move on.

Well - it's winter, so...

Down here in FL, I still see a pretty steady churn of GT350s in and out. The non-R version is pretty available at an asking price just above sticker and most of those dealers can be talked down instantly to MSRP by a serious buyer. There always seem to be a few around but they are rotating stock - so I wouldn't say they are sitting. Up North, probably more typical right now.

I've said it before - the GT350 is a gift from Ford to dealers. They know the dealers are going to mark them up, at least for a while. I also agree with the logic that dealers feel justified due to needing to mark down slow-moving stock - AND being beat up by buyers on every other car they sell - with invoice or better being the goal...the whole time buyers justifying it, claiming that the dealer "still makes plenty". Do those buyers know what "plenty" is compared to their actual expenses, not really. It's business and you make what you can, when you can, during good times...never knowing when the hard times will come.

I agree with out ADM Ford would of sold alot more people I spoke to thought I had to pay 20k ADM to get mine so they didn't even look at the car.

I had a dealer want 25k on a used one

Congrats! As others have said, keep the chassis plate. Did it come with a replacement red R plate?

If not, there was a seller on ebay with factory blank R plates selling them. I have one and gave one to a friend. So if they didn't supply a plate, ler me know and I'll try to dig the seller up.

It has a build date of 03/24/17. The dealer has been sitting on it for almost a year. He ought to be discounting it below MSRP.

The Monroney sticker does not show the Sold To dealer in the lower left corner.

The dealer has it listed for $99k, guess that explains why it has sat for so long.

Was prepared to pay cash for a 350, not even asking for discount. Hearing the figure we start the paper work.

Mr. Happy takes the walk over to too Mr. Hungry....... waiting, came back, then does the dealer ship shuffle .... I'm so lucky here's MY special price, mind you I was ordering, not dragging some 350 off the lot.

Looking over the paper work, calmly got up & walked. Heading for the door Mr Happy asks, where was I going?

Looked back over my shoulder took out my wallet, and laughed.

I would have paid the advertised price without any complaints. That add on is just plain bullshit brown and stinky .

Looking at everything it seems like it is actually an R. The VIN kind of ends all questions about it. FATP on Rs vs FA6P on no-Rs. Looks like a mistake at the factory with the dash placard but everything else looks legit.

It also looks like it's sitting a little high. How much you wanna bet they left the shipping blocks in place on the springs?
Is this something specific to model year 17? Otherwise I believe you're incorrect. MY 18 R starts out as 1FA6P... And I assure you it's real.

Think that may just be a year model code. Mine is 1FA6P, it's as base model of a GT as one can base model.
