Jim Bob looking for a track day car is going to spend $60,000 on a GT350 when a 1SS 1LE is $20k less?
Nah dude. Ask anyone that tracks: when you are learning, a lower cost but more capable car is less stressful and more rewarding. GT350s getting passed by 1SS1LE is common in hpde 1-3. By the time the camaro owner spends another $20k to equal the base GT350 expense, hes walking around GT350s on track.
I would. I felt like sitting in the Camaro was similar to sitting in a bunker when I tried a used ZL1. was a nice ride and drive well, but visibility SUCKED imo. I'ts why I'd rather get a new GT, or a light used GT350 over a 35K ZL1.

I think you misunderstood. I don't think anyone was suggesting a COLD AIR INTAKE was the reason.... they are talking about it being colder outside. It is now Winter... and temperatures are 20 ~ 40 degrees colder now, which means air is more dense.

An engine is an air pump.

I think you miss understand, I was discussing Steeda's facebook claim.

They stated when they added their CAI to the 2018, they gained 20WHP and then when they tuned it, they gained a total of 30WHP.

So they ran stock, then ran CAI, then ran tuned, all same day, so the temperatures were same throughout.

What I am disputing is that a CAI does not get you 20HP. I am also disputing that a tuner who only gains 10HP is a very poor tuner.

People say this but I don’t feel any drop in power all the way to the 6500rpm redline:shrug:

Looking at dyno graphs of the gen 6 ss and 18 gt, both are making around 350 tq @6000 rpm.
The ss make at least 350 tq from 2000-6000rpm

Scroll down for graph.
https://www.google.com/amp/www.hotr...-of-its-claimed-455-hp455-lb-ft-and-more/amp/

The 18 gt does have a flatter curve up top no doubt; but to say the lt1 “falls on its face” is ignorant.
Reminds me of my old pullied '03 Cobra. It made much more power, but it's powerband was similar. It felt you could take it to 6500 no problem, felt strong. The dyno graph also showed it nosediving above 6000 due to heat from the blower. Tinkering with the shift points netted a 2.5 mph gain in the 1/4 shifting at ~6250 rpm.

I've always found it funny how some claims are perfectly rounded ... 20 and then 30. Would make it more believable if it was 17 and 28 or something like that.

I would go C7 GS with the Z07 package for GT350 price and really hurt some feelings! I have seen a couple on discount for roughly $60k.

Wasn’t there a suit over that engine having issues? I think it also has cooling issues on the track like the GT350 did before the coolers became standard.

1. No idea and 2. I thought the GS has coolers? I do not know of any of the GS's faults, I would like one because it is an NA road course monster, especially with the Z07 package. I bleed blue and know little about Corvette's other than appreciate their performance and looks.

I could be wrong. I may be thinking of the Z06.

The Z had the cooling issues because of the supercharger, that I do know.

this is pretty much the power level of my ex LS3 corvette with full exhaust, intake and tune. that is an exciting 'starting point' for a car. glad to see good results :)

Exactly!
Mustang is way easier on the eyes.
Just wish it was easier on the wallet to get SS 1LE performance w a track use warranty.

You mean SS 1LE?
ZL1 is the recently announced 750 hp insanity monster that handles and puts power down...
lol.. bunker... +1

Yea I got a call back from same dealer that offered the 1SS 1LE at $43k otd.
Freakn $56k C7 GS... ~$60k otd...
Chevy is bringing its A game in the price/performance arena.
Everyone here is familiar with the Grand Sport track capabilities? They are stout and at par +/- 911 GT3 RS depending on higher or lower speed track.

The GT350 is on it's way out.
To be replaced by the GT500.

I wasn't comparing the GT350 to the 1LE. I was simply referring to the pecking order in the Mustang family. Ford will not want to step on the heels of the Shelby as long as it's in production, hence possible under-rating of the HP numbers. Not saying it's actually happening.
