I'm also looking at the Livernois package so I called them last week to ask some questions. From what I understand the themostat keeps the engine temps cooler when it's hot out so you aren't robbed HP. Also ford tunes are not customizable for thermostats or other mods.
I too would like to understand how the thermostat works better.

2016 GT (Florida, 17k miles, auto, non-PP): Novice trying to make an informed decision on upgrades.

Have question regarding lower-temp thermostat replacement with tune/CAI packages. I notice some vendors (FRPP power pack 2) do not suggest or require it, but some vendors to either have it as part of package or optional. How do I know if I need it, and what risk am I assuming if I buy a package without it?

Initially considering FRPP #2, but now may be leaning towards Lund tune/PMAS combo package or Livernois severe windstorm bundle.

Only mods currently have are magnaflow street catback and FRPP oil catch can.

Not necessarily concerned about warranty, but want long term reliability. After this, I dont expect to do anything else.

Any advice?

Other than the warranty I don't see why anyone would go with the Ford performance tune. To be honest I don't care about the warranty. If my nav stops working they can't blame the tune, and I've heard 0 reports of n/a Coyotes blowing up because of a tune.

My Lund tune has better than stock drive-ability with a nice noticeable power increase. Have you guys seen the 800 page thread on the PP2 issues?

The best part about Lund is the communication. I peppered the poor guy with 20 emails about my tune/needs. I ended up with a 93 tune and race tune at no extra charge.

I'll be data logging both tunes tomorrow and sending them in for revision. Then on the 29th I'll be dynoing and data logging both tunes and sending the results again.

Ford won't do that for ya!

I'll also say although I don't have any personal experience with Livernois based on feedback I've heard that they would be right there with Lund.

T-stat don't lower temps it controls min temp. Hot rod the car still going to get temps over 200degs. What control MAX temp airflow through the front and radiator size

CARB Compliance. It has an Executive Order making it smog legal.

That's when I load the stock tune and go through emissions.

Wouldn't you have to revert back to the OE tb and intake for that?

Yeah, breathing decent air is a bitch.
Yeah so cal smog is nasty. They should have the smog rules. Not all of cali. Glad I have Oregon plates. No smog. Can do whatever I want to my car no inspections. We all gonna die some time. :eyebulge:

@Livernois Motorsports,

Do you guys offer a forum discount by chance?

Thanks!
I'd be curious about this discount too if its available. I like how Livernois continues to do updates as you go and does revisions. I street tuned my Scion FR-S this way with data logging and sending over to a tuner. Works extremely well for the mods I have on my car and not a canned tune.

My TB is stock. As for the CAI, I can either:

-Put the stocker back on for a day
-Get the Steeda insert
-Get a stock tune by Lund save for the Mass Air.

I'll likely go with the later option and see how I fare.

My mother offered to buy me a tune for my birthday and I'm just so conflicted on which route to go. On one hand, I would like to keep my warranty. On the other hand, I like all the datalogging and stuff from the other tunes, not to mention it seems like more power is being made.

What do you recommend using, ngauge or sxt?
tune is the same on either device, but the ngauge is much quicker flashing, easier to use, better datalogging, and can be mounted much easier, if you choose to
