90% torque from 3,500-6,500, throttle position & gear (or speed) dependent boost controller to limit boost at part throttle and lower gears/speed.

^^^totally made-up but would be fun.

Maybe you're right, but I think a lot of people will want one just for bragging rights.
Agreed, they will be the center of attention at Cars & Coffee across the nation once they are released IMO.

Two points: they've already done it with the GT. From a pure performance perspective, one of the dumbest things they did was to forego an even better version of the Voodoo in favor of the Ecoboost for that car.

Secondly, it's Ford, and while they have had flashes of brilliance over the years, they don't have the best track record of keeping performance as Job 1. Winning the HP war probably isn't as important to them as promoting an engine program they've already invested hundreds of millions in. Hence, the Ecoboost GT.
Ford is the car company that escalated the HP wars with a 662 HP GT500 in 2013...that's how important this thing is to them! Doesn't mean that they want to win and be the straight line king. With the '16 GT350R coming on the scene, they proved that it's not just about HP and wheted our appetites for a car that is not only fast but handles like a car costing 3-4+ times more. This has set a new standard for defining what a muscle/track focused car is and has changed the expectations for folks shopping in this segment. The market for a Hellcat/Demon type of entry has shrunk as a result which means that it's really a two horse race between Ford and GM.

Doesn't look like there will be a new GT500 at the New York auto show next month, huh?!?! :tsk: I haven't heard anything about a new GT500 from Ford. Not a peep.
I wish they would at least let "potential buyers" know it is coming out eventually.

No, the GT500KR would be and now that you say that it makes me think the two GT500's will be two different cars.

I say:

GT500: EB3.5 (Budget version)
GT500KR: EB5.2-5.4 (showcase the HALO truck engine)

2019 Supercharged Mach 1 because you guys will probably get what you want. Probably a Bullett package this year too, nothing special except Bullett.

I have a good feeling ford will debut the car in the fall or as late as the 2018 Detroit show AS a late 2018 MY car. Probably build a thousand of them for 18 and then 5,000 each for '19 and '20.

That ain't gonna be what the gt500 looks like. I see a larger grill and a more aggressive look. What is displayed looks like a striped GT
I still think Ford is some how going to make 2048 GT500's called MY2017 to match their Shelby history.

The SVT factory can crank out at 500++ units per month, so as long as they start making them by 4th quarter this year, they can still launch correlating exactly to Ford's history, as did the GT350's. (137 in the first year to match first year #'s, then crank up production for other years)

They have to release something to address the ZL1, 1LE & Z28 performance. The ZL1 is faster than the GT350R, and the Z28 is on the horizon. Ford needs a GT500 with 600++hp and GT350 handling characteristics to compete with Chevy.

Ex: GT500 = GT350R body, carbon fiber wheels, 2-piece brembo rotors, magnetic shocks, with 10-speed auto, 5.2L CPC w/ FI w/755hp. And you have a ZL1 and Z28 killer. The only problem is, its going to be $70k for all of that tech, but will be in the same price category as the Z28 and/or loaded ZL1.

That sounds a cool line-up. I thought the EB3.5 was too wide for the S550 engine bay though. I'd suspect the same would be try of the 7 litre?

So, I'd "settle" for:

GT500/KR EB 5.2
Mach 1 supercharged 5.0
Bullitt

yahoo posted this today.......

https://www.yahoo.com/news/2018-ford-mustang-shelby-gt500-163200231.html

2018 Ford Mustang
To that end, we hear Ford is leaning away from EcoBoost and toward a supercharged, larger-displacement version of the Mustang GT’s Coyote. If that sounds a lot like the GT350’s 5.2-liter Voodoo V-8, well, that’s because it would be, albeit with a conventional 90-degree crankshaft in place of the Voodoo’s 180-degree piece, as well as direct fuel injection. Expect both a six-speed manual transmission and a 10-speed automatic co-developed with GM and also used in the ZL1.

Competition: BMW M4, Cadillac ATS-V coupe, Chevrolet Camaro ZL1, Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat, Mercedes-AMG C63 S coupe.

What Might Go Wrong: It might not be as good on a track as the ZL1, but considering how well the GT350 handles, that seems unlikely.

Estimated Arrival and Price: Later this year; expect to pay at least $65,000, more if dealers decide to gouge buyers.
