Firestone Firehawk Indy500 ... real life mileage expectations?

My '16 Ecoboost Perf Pkg that I bought new in July now has 14k miles and the stock Pirelli P-Zero's are at the wear bars.. time for new shoes. I've read great things about the performance/value of the Indy 500's.. but haven't seen much about actual treadwear and life... for those of you with these tires, how many miles do you have, and how's the wear?

I have the older version of them (called "wide oval" indy 500 or something) 285/35/19 at all 4 corners. Bought them on sale from tirerack for $99ea.

Not sure about street miles (i've probably only put about 2k miles on the street). But I think they will do quite well considering I've done 3 track days, and a drift event on these tires. The tread still is about 40-50% left on them, and I'm sure if I only daily drove them, could easily get another 10k miles out of them. Doing a track day, and especially a drift event wears the tires much more than street driving. Of course I have been rotating them regularly.

My 2 cents is the tread life will be better or much better than the Pirelli's in normal everyday use. Good luck

They will def be better then the Pirelli thats for sure.

I have them in 275/40R18, and they are great so far, good in the rain, good dry traction and they breakaway very linearly. Not too loud either.

Honestly if they made them in the sizing I need for my 350 I would use a set.

I'm trying to decide between 275/40R19 and 285/35R19. I'm not concerned about the price difference but what should I consider for performance and ride comfort? The size difference compared to stock 255/40R19 is:
275/40 = 0.66" bigger than stock
285/35 = 0.18" smaller than stock

Ride comfort, obviously the 275/40 will be better but would the 285/35 be that much worse? And the looks, 275/40 too much sidewall?

Performance, acceleration should be better with the smaller tire but I have 3.55 gears and no problem with acceleration at all. What about cornering? Anything else I should be thinking about?

Ride won't be too much worse on the 285, because neither are XL, but if you did a back-to-back you could probably feel it. The 285 has 0.8" wider tread width, which is very significant from a grip perspective. Do you think the stock PP tires have too much sidewall? If so, then get the 285. If money wasn't an issue between them I'd get the 285 every time, but I tend towards the performance side of the equation.

Both are good options, but If I may 285/35/19 does sit well on the 19x10 wheels.

Thanks, I think I'll go with the 285s. If the ride difference isn't that big, I'd rather have the cornering performance.
