The one thing that bothers me about the base car is the plain base bumper. There are a lot of threads about swapping parts etc but it can get pretty damn expensive. Last week I took my car to MAACO and they painted my valance gloss black for $140 and I love how it came out. It also comes with a 1 year warranty on the job.

Lets see some pics of your base bumper fixes and the cost. There are a decent # of options out now. I'm debating if I should bother with fins from mmd or someone else.

Excuse my exhaust I know I need to adjust it

I like that back-up light I just saw it on a friend's car last weekend. Who makes it?

I have that Raxiom piece too. Love it also.

I went Premium bumper conversion, and have no regrets. Looks great, and now I have multiple options for diffusers. Cost less than $800 total.

It's a tough call. Premium bumper swap is the correct way to do it. But base bumpers can be painted to look pretty much the same. The unfortunate side is the lack of flexibility on the base cars. I know, I have one. I plastidipped mine briefly and loved it. Peeled it off to get it back to square one. I plan to paint mine and add diffuser pieces for a different look for now.

Problem is, no one paints just the valence area, they do the whole bottom portion, and it just doesn't look right to me. The great thing about the premium(in my opinion), is the way the body painted portion at the bottom breaks up the look.

Painting the base bottom just makes it look like a giant black hole.

I personally don't mind the all black diffuser. The thing for me is that I want it to match the color and texture of the side skirts and the front lip. Otherwise, it doesn't look right from the side. This is why I'll be doing a premium bumper conversion. I've been looking really hard at that post about installing the Roush valance on the base bumper. Seems like a good solution, but would mods to the exhaust, which I'm not sure I want to do.

True, from certain angles it could really benefit from some fins I think. The aftermarket diffusers are all going the all black route (same with the 2018). That's a fair point about it matching the side skirts. You could go with flat black paint like Elvis66. The good thing about the gloss black in my case is it ties in well with the decklid/spoiler/wheels

@Agent_S550 how did plasti-dip hold up? I feel like it would be tough to keep clean

I've had great experience with plastidip. I had a set of wheels on an ST that lasted for two years and was still going strong when I sold it. Keeping clean isn't an issue honestly. It doesn't show dirt.

I'm really debating using it on my heat extractors. I had the opposite experience with plastidip on my gfs dodge dart wheels and now I'm scared of it. Did it peel off easy from your bumper?
