I've seen some very impressive videos from shops on this site who really look like they know what they are doing and seem proud to provide high quality customer service and care.

Does anyone know of a PPF shop like that in the Chicago area - particularly in the western suburbs?

Yes! I have used Nino at Umbra Window Tinting in Schgaumburg for several cars including my Porsche GT3, Shelby GT350R and others. He has done great work. Info is here;

I haven't had it done, but Chicago Auto Pros (Glen Ellyn) was who I was leaning towards.

Thanks for the quick feedback, everyone.

I should have mentioned that my plan for my GT350 includes stickier tires (on R-spec 6GR wheels) and lots of track time at Road America and other tracks - so I do expect a fair amount of abrasion to take place.

Not wrapping the whole car, but a little Xpel on the nose and on the quarters in front of the rear wheels seems prudent.

That is basically the plan for my GT350, I had PPF on all exposed front surfaces and the mirrors along with side protection for the front tires - Cost me about $300.

Chicago Auto pros do great work and they're in Glen Ellyn, too. They did my truck...Can't go wrong with them.
There's a new guy in town though:
look up Wrapped Chicago in Glenview. I'm having theses guys ppf and coat and tint my GT. They quoted me a price of $1350 for full frontal ppf with Xpel. Can't get much better than that in Chicago

Wanting to get this done soon now that, hopefully, the weather is turning better.

Cost rises once you start to cover the entire hood and fenders. What is everyones opinion on what to get done?

Full front bumper is a must. I am worried that only doing part of the hood and fenders will leave the edge visible and just annoy me knowing it is there. :) Likely smart to cover the front of the quarter panels as well.

What is everyone getting covered?

Had my car done this past weekend - used MotoFX out of Oakbrook Terrace. Tim was great to work with and did an outstanding job. He came to my location, too, as my shop is well heated.

Did all the front facing surfaces and quarter impact zones. Full front fascia, lower air dam, "bikini cut" front part of the hood and fenders, mirrors, front wheel well lip, and the quarter panels / rockers in front of the rear wheels.

He also installed my satin black rocker stripes and they look awesome - not really visible, just the absence of gloss in that area now giving a little nod to the original GT350 rocker stripes (mine are plain, though, with no lettering on the fender area).

Even on my black car, the lines are nearly invisible and not at all objectionable.

Here's a pic that shows the rocker stripes and if you look closely at around the 2:00 point on the rear wheel opening, you can just see the edge of the Xpel film on the quarter panel running diagonally to the upper body character line.
