After nearly 16 months wait I finally have my car and what a beast!! Enjoyed the 100 miles i put on today :D
Here is a quick pic and I will do a little write up when I get 5 minutes

Little write up added below and a few more pics.

The dream - Since I can remember I have always loved the look of the mustang except when they redesigned it in the early 70s, 2nd gen up until the 5th gen come out. I always said to myself one day you will own a mustang and in 2014 I started looking around at prices for the 1st gen to see how much of one I could get (was it going to be a restoration project so just a shell I could afford for now ha-ha), which then brought up a few articles about the new 2015 Mustang being made in RHD (Ford good job on the marketing there……). Obviously when I looked at the pictures, I could clearly see how they had merged the old 1st and 5th gens together to make the 6th gen Mustang shape (the gens I liked best), which straight away I loved. So in September 2014 I placed my deposit for a Competition Orange V8 Fastback with all the options added separately, so no custom pack, just the great looking black wheels against the orange……then the wait began.

The wait - The 16months wait was torture but to be fair the order books did not officially open until March 2015 so knock of a few months there, but I did not want to miss out. The hard part of the waiting was when I knew the car had been built (11.08.15), then arrived at Baltimore docks (02.10.15) where it then sat “Watching the ships roll in, And then I watch ‘em roll away again, yeah”…..until (16.12.15) when it finally set sail on the Galveston Highway. A very quick turnaround in Zeebrugge saw it arrive in Southampton on (07.01.16) and then on to the dealership (13.01.16).

Pick up day – I couldn't resist having a sneak peek the night before (1st pic uploaded) :ninja: . The day had finally arrived (16.01.16) and I woke up feeling really excited but nervous at the same time. The weather was cold and damp outside, perfect for picking up a 412bhp 5.0L V8 beast that is RWD, which I had no experience of on the road!! Got to the dealership around 9:45am, caught up with my dealer Nick and signed the last remaining papers and at that point you hear a nice burble, rumble, that distinctive V8 soundtrack getting closer. I look out the window and there my car rolls in to view…WOW that’s a nice looking car….then it hit me…OMG that’s my car, at which point my wife said the smile on my face was from ear to ear.
I tried to put the excitement behind sensible mode so I could have a good look around the car, but it was constantly trying to come out and I knew I was rushing a little through the checks. The main points for me were the paint, wheels and the rear window. All were great along with everything else on the car once I took the time to check it over.
After going through everything with Nick, the best words ever came out of his mouth “Start it up then”, to which I pushed the clutch down, pressed the start button and heard the V8 fire into life. I love how it turns over on the starter before it comes alive, all those cylinders, valves etc kicking in to life and working together to make a lovely soundtrack in my ears. I shut it off, finish speaking with Nick and the hand over was done, this dream of mine to own a mustang is finally a reality. I fit the rear number plate, set my wife’s phone up for record in her car for when she is following me and set off. The feeling of setting off in a brand new car is so different to a second hand car, knowing you are the first owner and this is the start of many journeys together. The drive home was awesome, took my time, taking in the mechanical sounds of the car, getting used to the clutch (found it very easy, just the off 1st to 2nd judder) and feeling very pleased with what I had achieved.
After dropping the wife’s car back home, she jumped in the passenger seat and we head to the petrol garage. Pull up and I can sense people looking at the car but don’t want to look at anyone as it’s a strange feeling so I just stared at the £s rising ha-ha.
Next destination was the best to come and the first on my list, up to see my brother in law. A nice drive of around 45mins on various types of roads and I am getting more confident with car and the respect is there for what it can do if I don’t respect it!! Pull up on the drive and I am greeted with my brother in law looking out of his bedroom window just staring at the car and saying “Holy sh!t you have it”. After saying hi to everyone we both head out for a drive and that moment for me will stay with me forever. Having him sat next to me, enjoying the car and having a laugh in the mustang was just awesome and I am looking forward to taking him out as much as I can.
Fast forward and it’s time to head home. It’s now dark outside and the cool features of the car come to life. The exterior lights all come on when you press the unlock button along with the pony puddle light projected on the floor. You open the door and the cabin welcomes you with a variety of lights (in different colours if those are your settings) and the mustang lit up on the door sill. The drive home was awesome, the Mrs felt really comfortable to the point where she fell asleep with the heated seat on and in her words “felt cosy”. Parked it up for the evening and before heading to bed later on that evening, I had to have a quick look out the window, as if I was pinching myself to wake up from a dream but there was my car sitting there and a nice surprise of my neighbour and his son taking pictures of my car, a nice final thing before sleep.

Next day – Up earlyish to take the car round to show my Uncle, who absolutely loved the car especially the start up as well. As the day went on and more miles were put on the clock, I got more and more confident and the soundtrack of the V8 got louder as I kept the gear changes a little longer. This car is just awesome and I know I have more to come as I need to give it more myself before it rewards me. 1st to 2nd gear changes were still a little annoying so I may look to do the clutch spring removal at some point but will give it a few more miles first.

Reactions to the car – Everyone who has seen it so far have loved it. I have been flashed (headlights ha-ha) by other drivers, thumbs up etc and my neighbour taking pictures of the car on the first night it was parked up and telling me the next day how gorgeous it is. The most bizarre reaction I got was when I went for lunch with the Mrs. We parked up in Pizza Express car park and there was a big guy watching me park and waiting for us to get out. Straight away he was “Nice car geezer, well done bruv. Bet you can’t stop smiling? Well done getting yourself this fella, great looking motor”….I say thanks and as I go to walk he then at the end of his sentence says “You slag” and kicks me in the arse  I know he was joking about as he had a massive smile on his face but such a weird way to say well done to someone…..

Overall – This car is just awesome in every way and I can’t wait to get behind the wheel. I have put 150 miles on it and enjoyed every one of them and looking forward to having fun putting more on. Yes the wait was long but I have already forgotten about it now I have the car. To any of those that made it to the end of this little story and are waiting for their cars, stick in there as it’s definitely worth every minute.
Bring on the mustang meets, meeting other enthusiasts and lots more fun in the mustang, which is called Stark of course.

Cheers all

Probably one of the few where it does, looks like it's had a bit of a phone-based retouch though? Or his camera is something special!
