Ford has been granted a patent that may reveal the future of the Ford Mustang’s pony puddle lights.
The patent is described as a puddle lamp assembly that includes a plurality of light projectors located on a vehicle and configured to illuminate different lighted image patterns on a ground surface adjacent to the vehicle. To illustrate, the patent art shows the lamp assembly creating a moving lighted image of the Ford Mustang pony, presumably based on the location of the door position.
This is of course, no guarantee that we will see this in a production Mustang, but we think it’d be a cool evolution of this now-signature light feature of the Ford Mustang — you can check out the patent filing in the forums.
