Mustang6G is live here at the 2015 North American International Auto Show and Ford just revealed the 2016 Shelby GT350R Mustang!
Heralded as “the most track-ready road-going production Mustang ever built” the new GT350R combines all of the performance and technological features of the standard GT350 Mustang with a host of changes from lightweighting to aerodynamics and suspension tuning for the most race-ready (but road-legal) Mustang ever.
The new Shelby GT350R Mustang drops over 130 pounds from the standard GT350 Mustang and has specially tuned suspension — fitted with revised spring rates and antiroll bars, lower ride height, unique track-tuned alignment settings, revised bushings and jounce bumpers, cross-axis ball joints in the front suspension and revised calibration controlling the MagneRide dampers.
Ford aggressively removed any parts that did not improve the performance of the vehicle — including the removal of air conditioning, stereo, rear seats, trunk floorboard and carpet, backup camera and emergency tire sealer and inflator. Exhaust resonators were also removed, reducing weight and creating a sharper exhaust tone. And in case you had any doubt Ford is serious about reducing weight, the GT350R Mustang is equipped with carbon fiber wheels!
