First Shelby GT350R Mustang Sold for $1M at Barrett-Jackson!

The first retail production Shelby GT350R Mustang just sold for $1 million at the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale auction!

Driven onto the auction stage by Ford Motor Company CEO, Mark Fields, this first public showing of the GT350R Mustang outside of the Detroit auto show also provided the first glimpse of some of the production trim which includes red brake calipers and red Cobra badges in the grille and rear decklid.

When the auction seemed to stall at $800,000, Mark Fields sweetened the deal by throwing in a trip to Ford headquarters in Dearborn where the winning bidder of the coveted VIN #001 will have the keys to the vehicle personally handed to him by Fields himself.

Ford team members who were involved in the design and development of the Shelby GT350R will also sign the car in appreciation of the proceeds that will benefit JDRF, the leading global organization for type 1 diabetes research.
