Ever since its debut last year, the Shelby GT350R steering wheel has been one the most sought after modifications for all S550 Mustangs.
The leather and alcantara GT350R steering wheel with red stripes and stitching has been hugely popular ever since Ford Performance Parts made the part available in the aftermarket.
In an effort to bring more options to S550 Mustang owners and perhaps even improve upon the stock design, Beith Performance Parts (BPP) has prototyped a custom full-leather steering wheel which has borrowed from and re-profiled the exterior shape of the GT350R steering wheel.
The modified shape enhances the thumb grip areas and the perforated sides for enhanced feel and improved grip ergonomics.
BPP’s steering wheel is also fully wrapped in premium leather in contrast to the GT350R’s use of alcantara. While the latter provides better ergonomics than the standard S550 steering wheel alcantara does have the potential to wear prematurely and show signs of use and attrition rather quickly.
