A Closer Look at the 5.2L Flat-Plane Crankshaft V8 “Voodoo” Engine

M6G got up close and personal with the new 5.2L V8 Voodoo Engine, hand-built on the niche line at the Ford Romeo Engine Plant and debuting on the Shelby GT350 and GT350R Mustang.

Featuring the first ever production V8 from Ford with a flat-plane crankshaft, the new Ford Performance Voodoo engine also features forged aluminum pistons and low friction rings, select-tuned elastomeric damper, charge motion control valves with dual actuators and solenoids, pulse separated exhaust manifolds, dual mass flywheel, twin disc clutch and high capacity oil pan.

Ford has yet to release full specifications on the engine but have promised it will generate more than 500 horsepower and above 400 lb-ft torque.
