The Ford Parts website has often provided clues on future vehicles, models and parts speculation and as regular Mustang6G readers will remember back in August 2014 our sleuths dug up various traces of the then yet-released GT350 wheels and other parts.
Now, fresh indications have emerged that the upcoming 10R80 ten-speed automatic transmission is being readied for the Ford Mustang. This comes only a few months after the first concrete sign of the 10R80 was leaked in the Microcat system.
The latest clue relates to Part Number 2454 for a Parking Brake Pedal Pad, which is noted for the 6 speed automatic transmission (6R80) found in the current model S550 and the “North American Markets 10 Speed Auto Transmission (10R80).”
While many are excited to see the plans solidify for the 2018 Mustang to receive a new 10-speed automatic transmission, the latest proof of such raises the question of whether the 10R80 will only be available for S550 Mustangs sold in North America.
With any luck, we will find out the answer before the 2018 Mustang public debut early next year.
