“Expect an exciting day on Dec. 5… I’m biased, but I think you’ll be really impressed,” said Ford President of the Americas, Joe Hinrichs when asked recently about the 2015 Mustang unveiling, set to take place on December 5, 2013 in six cities worldwide.
With regards to the somewhat arbitrary December date of the reveal (when most had expected it to be revealed either at the Detroit Auto Show or on the Mustang’s 50th birthday on April 17, 2014), Hinrichs responded that while December 5th is not a special date for the Mustang, the coordination worked out for Ford officials in order to make it a truly global unveiling — a first for the Mustang.
“We’re taking advantage of the opportunity of Mustang going global to do it globally, as compared to an auto show,” he told reporters following the unveiling of the Ford Edge concept on Nov. 20. “Mustang 50 years is a big enough event on its own that will generate plenty of energy and excitement, I’m sure.”
