Our friends at Road & Track are at it again with their annual Performance Car of the Year contest and have selected the 2016 Shelby GT350R Mustang as one of the contenders in this year’s royal rumble of performance vehicles.
As you may recall, last year the 2015 Mustang GT finished runner-up in R&T’s PCOTY, second only to the Porsche 911 GT3.
This time around, the latest Ford Performance track beast will be up against similarly stout competition as it will be compared with seven new (or newly updated) vehicles representing the top of their respective performance brackets.
The final list of contenders includes:
- Mercedes-AMG GT S
- Porsche Cayman GT4
- Ferrari 488 GTB
- Shelby GT350R Mustang
- Dodge Viper ACR
- Bentley Continental GT3R
- Chevrolet Corvette Z06
- Cadillac ATS-V
