After last year’s drought of V8 engines in Ward’s 10 Best Engines list, Ford’s redesigned 5.0L Coyote has been named one of the best engines of 2018.
It was the 2016 Shelby GT350’s 5.2L Voodoo V8 that brought home the honors two years ago and clearly the trickle down technology and learnings from the GT350 have benefitted the 2018 Mustang GT.
Numbers aside, there’s nothing quite like the visceral feel of a properly tuned V-8 at the limit. “Apparently, there is no replacement for displacement,” observes judge Tom Murphy of WardsAuto. “It’s so much fun making this beast howl.”
