2018 Mustang Instrument Cluster Recall

Ford has issued a safety compliance recall (reference number 17C21) for approximately 2,167 2018 Mustang vehicles with an automatic transmission premium (12.4″) instrument cluster to update the software due to an illumination issue.

In the affected vehicles the issue occurs when the driver turns off the vehicle with the transmission is in a position other than park. A malfunction can cause the instrument cluster to not illuminate the PRNDL display and as a result the operator may not receive the key-in-ignition warning chime when the driver’s door is opened, thus increasing the likelihood of a vehicle rollaway.

The affected vehicles involve 2018 Mustangs built at Flat Rock between March 14, 2017 to November 26, 2017 and will be cured by dealers with an update to the instrument cluster software.
